Start procedure

Decomposition of Zircon. Zircon sand is inert and refractory. Therefore the first extractive step is to convert the zirconium and hafnium portions into active forms amenable to the subsequent processing scheme. For the production of hafnium, this is done in the United States by carbochlorination as shown in Figure 1. In the Ukraine, fluorosiUcate fusion is used. Caustic fusion is the usual starting procedure for the production of aqueous zirconium chemicals, which usually does not involve hafnium separation. Other methods of decomposing zircon such as plasma dissociation or lime fusions are used for production of some grades of zirconium oxide. [Pg.440]

The starting procedure is very similar to that of sulfosuccinate monoester synthesis. As described above, the alcohol(s) or other educts are placed in the reactor and the MA is added as mentioned above. When the addition is complete the temperature is raised to around 120-130°C (and under a moderate vacuum) to remove the water formed during the process to shift the reaction... [Pg.511]

The usual starting procedure is connected with approximating the operators L by the difference operators Aj acting in accordance with the rules... [Pg.637]

Available data processing is a special starting procedure in the further comparison of three methods in line with established priorities by having recourse to the model problem (35) that we have set up on a square grid /ij = = h in the square G with the unit sides (/j = /2 = 1). Plain... [Pg.689]

The need for special facilities for work involving neutron activation analysis and radiochemical measurements has been referred to above in Section 4.3.6. Other safety factors may also influence your choice of method. For example, you may wish to avoid the use of methods which require toxic solvents, such as benzene and certain chlorinated hydrocarbons, or toxic reagents, such as potassium cyanide, if alternative procedures are available. Where Statutory Methods have to be used, there may be no alternative. In such cases, it is essential that staff are fully aware of the hazards involved and are properly supervised. Whatever method is used, the appropriate safety assessment must be carried out before the work is started. Procedures should be in place to ensure that the required safety protocols are followed and that everyone is aware of legislative requirements. [Pg.60]

GU/GI procedures (high-risk, penicillin-allergic patients) - 1 g IV over 1 to 2 hours (children, 20 mg/kg) plus gentamicin 1.5 mg/kg IV or IM for both adult (not to exceed 120 mg) and children. Complete injection or infusion within 30 minutes of starting procedure. [Pg.1620]

The most efficient way to protect the worker is keep him away from all operations, like loading, unloading, and starting procedures during the cycle. So the sterilization process should be automated and computerized. ° Besides the worker protection, the computerized system allows the cycles self-certification, which adds reproducibility advantages to efficiency of the sterilization cycle. [Pg.3521]

The algorithm can be implemented as a multi-start procedure by randomly disturbing the priority values of the operations. In our implementation the initial unbiased priority values are based on earliest feasible start times, the sizes of the strong components, and the capacity-driven latest start times of the operations. [Pg.161]

Although this procedure is simple, one drawback is that the start time for the reaction cannot be accurately established. Several starting procedures are commonly used. [Pg.2]

The main idea for automation is to make the future plant less sensitive to human errors. In the EPR the required degree for automation has been fixed by comparison of the French and German existing solutions all elements which have an influence on availability or the human failure risk considering the overall safety will be automated in the future EPR (e g. main coolant pump automatic start up sequence to avoid a potential human failure considering the complexity of the starting procedure and the consequences on safety and availability in case of a pump failure, automatic start of the third main feedwater pump when required)... [Pg.172]

In this case, it is impossible to control power-deposition processes. Power starts to be generated as soon as the radionuclide is produced. It decreases exponentially and is determined by the amount and the decay constant of the radionuclide. Thus, safety issues concerning these sources are crucial not only in the course of their operation but also at the stages of their production, of power-source assembling, storage, pre-starting procedures, and after decommissioning. [Pg.2751]

Chemical reactions consist of particular process steps, so-called elementary reactions. In our case, they describe start procedures of m monomers X( and of an initiator 7 in a solvent 5, and different growth processes, where the initiator-radical 7, the solvent-radical S and polymer-radicals with the i-th monomer at one end of the polymer-chain as interim products react with each other and where the macromolecule Z (dead polymer) arises. This leads to the following reaction scheme with different velocities of each of the eight elementary reactions... [Pg.212]

In the above equations the Indices f and h refer to the respective densities. From a starting procedure based on pure Monte Carlo simulation [20]... [Pg.398]
