Values priorities

We have thus far focused on the biological factors that affect drug responses but recovery from illness often takes place in the context of interactions among individuals. In these interactions, both patient and clinician bring their own knowledge, predispositions, values, priorities, modes of thinking, and belief systems into play. The following text is built upon the concept of descriptive organometallic chemistry, which uses the ligands rather than the oxidation states to organize the covered material. This includes all the material reviewed in the first edition most of which is also covered by major comprehensive reference works until 1993. All of the more recent material was taken directly from the primary literature as well as some aimual surveys. Therefore, in order to keep the number of references within an acceptable value, priority was given to the direct referencing of the material published from 1993, since the older material can be retrieved from the mentioned reference works and by cross referencing.

There is a tendency among both students and researchers to place more faith in the model than it deserves. Successful models may unify many observations for us and hence be highly valued. The observation always has priority, however. 

The sustained world popularity of NSP results from simplicity of production and high agronomic quaHty as a carrier of available P2O5, calcium, sulfur, and usually some incidental micronutrients. In this example, the order of priorities based on expected utihties is the same as that based on expected values. However, the order of priorities is clear-cut on the basis of expected value hut much less so on the basis of expected utihty. 

The EPA Hazardous Ranking System computes a numerical score for hazardous waste. As indicated previously, PSM information and messages have different values for different audiences. Your company s workforce has a more immediate and specific interest in the initiative than people who are less directly affected, such as plant neighbors, shareholders, or the general public. This doesn t mean confining communications efforts solely to company employees it simply suggests that you organize communications priorities to reflect levels of interest and information needs. 

Then consider these selling benefits in the context of your company s business priorities, match them against the goals management has established for PSM, and then try to distill the comments into a few key points that summarize the long-term value of your plan to the company as a whole.

Work with those who submit samples to limit submissions to those likely to yield useful information. In a typical sample queue, some are outside of the parameters required for a standardized assay, having a concentration too low for the precision required or containing matrix components incompatible with the assay. Others may be low on the list of project priorities. Analytical morale gains if every sample run leads to results that are valued.
