The earthquake engineering experimental facility at Northeastern University provides large-scale dynamic testing of soil samples under uniform cyclic or earthquake motions. It includes a shaking table (Fig. 21.2), a data acquisition card (NI-DAQ) and software (LabVIEW), a set of instmments including accelerometers (Crossbow, Ig, 2g, 5g, Fig. 21.3a), linear variable displacement transducers (LVDT, RDP DCTH400AG, Fig. 21.3b), miniature pore pressure transducers (GE Druck PDCR 81, Fig. 21.3c), and multiple bender element and bending disk measurement equipment for S and P wave measurements (Fig. 21.3c-e). [Pg.381]

Motion controlling software LabVIEW (National Instruments, Austin, TX) (reeSect. 2.2). [Pg.425]

This software used to for develop custom software versions for special situations. It is based on the LabView development package and includes the drivers required to operate the Transpector. [Pg.109]

Overall, most of the requirements for a process spectrometer/analyzer are straightforward to implement, but they do require attention at the design level. Another important area, which is FTIR-specific, is the user interface and the need to provide for industry standard data communications. Standard software packages do exist for process instrumentation. For prototype development, and even for the front-end interface in a standalone mode of operation, software products, such as Microsoft s Visual Basic and National Instruments LabView, are also important instrumentation development tools. Note that National Instruments also provides important computer-based electronics and hardware that meet most of the computer interfacing, and system control and communications needs for modem instrumentation. [Pg.121]

Another important aspect during the development in the laboratory is that the plant set-up changes frequently. Hence it is highly desirable to work with a flexible and self-explanatory PCS system which is fully adjustable by the user to any specific process set-up. For this purpose, modular built-up software based on the computer language LabView , often used for laboratory applications, was developed and combined with also modular constructed hardware [77]. [Pg.579]

For each decay time measurement, 256 or more measurements should be averaged and the decay curve transferred to a computer. The means to accomplish this transfer can be provided by software from the oscilloscope manufacturer, LabVIEW, or a custom program developed for this purpose. Once the decay curve data are available, they may be imported into a spreadsheet for determination of k using... [Pg.450]

Both the vertical and horizontal sphere displacements can be measured using a photoelectric sensor. During the wear experiments the fiictional and the normal forces, the vertical (linear wear) and horizontal sphere displacement, as well as the electrochemical parameters (current and potential) is continuously monitored using a Macintosh computer ruiuiing on LabView-Language-based software developed in LMCH of the EPFL. [Pg.98]

The power supply to the electrolyser was a Model 710 from The Electrosynthesis Company, Inc. of Lancaster NY. It was operated in constant current mode rather than in constant voltage mode. The maximum current and maximum voltage available was 50 amperes and 20 volts, respectively. In addition to current measurement provided by the power supply, a calibrated shunt was connected to the output to allow for independent measurement of current. Voltage taps independently connected to the cell electrodes were connected to the data acquisition system (DAS). The instrument signals from thermocouples, pressure gages, and flowmeters were connected to the DAS, which was comprised of a Dell computer with special acquisition boards and Labview software. Observations and some data were manually recorded in a laboratory notebook. [Pg.255]

The electric brake is an eddy current brake, which can simulate different aerodynamic drags, rolhng resistances, and driving cycles using a specific software developed in Labview. [Pg.170]

The most popular pieces of software available to extract short distances from CW EPR spectra are DIPETT (from Steinhoff s group) [57], ShortDistances (from Altenbach, https //sites.google.com/site/altenbach/labview-programs/short-distances) or user-based fitting routines with Easyspin [48]. [Pg.141]

The excitation source is one of the harmonics (355 nm/532 nm, 7 ns FWHM) of a Nd YAG laser (Continuum Surelite I) or tunable visible light from an OPO (Opotek). Data are acquired at 5 Hz and analyzed with programs assembled using LabView (National Instruments) software. (View this art in color at w+vw.dekker.com.)... The test bench, entirely automated as described in Figure 9.14, allows us to simultaneously test 4 sensors using electronic cards. These sensors are tested in the same conditions thanks to Labview software controlling the automatic opening and the closing of the electro-valves. The gas nsed is conditioned in bottles and then mixed with air. At the exit of the bottles, a series of automated mass flow meters allow us to regulate the gas flow, fixed at 41/hr for each unit. [Pg.319]

The specially designed software, called olfaction software, controls the PC-based data acquisition and automated operation of all these cycles. The software has got features like programmable sequence control, dynamic fermentation profile display, datalogging, alarm annunciation, data archival, etc. The software has been developed in LabVIEW of National Instruments. Experimental conditions are as follows ... [Pg.211]
