Stimulants theoretically exert their effect by blocking the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, thus improving academic performance and decreasing motor activity in ADHD patients. Stimulants have been shown to decrease fidgeting and finger tapping, increase on-task classroom behavior and positive interactions at home and in social environments, and ameliorate conduct and anxiety disorders.14... 

It is important to carefully document core ADHD symptoms at baseline to provide a reference point from which to evaluate effectiveness of treatment. Improvement in individualized patient outcomes are desired, such as (1) family and social relationships, (2) disruptive behavior, (3) completing required tasks, (4) self-motivation, (5) appearance, and (6) self-esteem. It is very important to elicit evaluations of the patient s behavior from family, school, and social environments in order to assess the preceding. Using standardized rating scales (e.g., Conners Rating Scales-Revised, Brown Attention-Deficit Disorder Scale, and IOWA Conners Scale) in both children and adults with ADHD helps to minimize variability in evaluation.29 After initiation of therapy, evaluations should be done every 2 to 4 weeks to determine efficacy of treatment, height, weight, pulse, and blood pressure. Physical examination or liver function tests may be used to monitor for adverse effects. 

The queen is usually reproductively dominant within the colony and uses chemical cues as both primer and releaser pheromones to suppress the production or fecundity of other sexuals, inhibit reproduction by worker castes, modulate reproductive behaviors (e.g., inhibit swarming and orient swarms), attract males, regulate worker tasks and worker ontogeny, and produce host repellents in slave-making species. Considering the importance of queen semiochemicals in social hymenoptera, few queen pheromones have been chemically identified. The queens of most social hymenopteran colonies are attractive to workers, allowing them to be properly tended as well as to facilitate the dissemination of other pheromone cues. However, the retinue pheromone has been chemically identified in very few species. In the 1980s, queen pheromone components were identified in the fire ant, Solenopsis invicta [91,92], and in the Pharaoh s ant, Monomoriumpharaonis [93].

As is well known, the concept of sustainable development includes three aspects, namely environmental, economic and social. Underestimating any of these facets will lead to a distortion in this equilateral triangle and to a deviation from the overall strategy of sustainability. This strategy can only be implemented when the three tasks are fulfilled simultaneously. The systems approach reveals strong interactions between the three factors of sustainable development. The sustainability will therefore be determined mainly by those parameters that affect at least two of the three factors.
