Slurry injection system

We next describe a slurry injection system (SIS), developed by Araca Incorporated (Borucki et al., 2012, 2014a,b,c), that for silica slurries and conventional pads can make it possible to achieve significant reductions in flow rate, sometimes by as much as 50%, while meeting all of the other slurry reduction goals listed above. The device works for many slurry and pad combinations, particularly for silica slurries and pads with pore stracture. [Pg.401]

Future investigations at PETC will focus on improving sorbent utilization while burning high-sulfur coals. A spray dryer system has been added to the test facility, and a sorbent recycle system will be installed. The planned work will include an evaluation of the effectiveness of lime and limestone slurry injection. [Pg.365]

In any solids removal system, there is a need for equipment to handle the bulk solids or sludge removed from the water and a procedure for removal of these solids. For many common water injection systems, the amount of bulk solids to be removed can be rather large. If the solids are free of oil, they may be disposed of in slurry piped to pits onshore or overboard offshore. If coated with oil, they may require treating prior to disposal. Treating oil from solids is beyond the scope of this chapter. Oil is normally separated from produced solids by abrasion in hydrocyclones or by washing with detergents or solvents. [Pg.214]

Dicyclopentadiene is also polymerized with tungsten-based catalysts. Because the polymerization reaction produces heavily cross-Unked resins, the polymers are manufactured in a reaction injection mol ding (RIM) process, in which all catalyst components and resin modifiers are slurried in two batches of the monomer. The first batch contains the catalyst (a mixture of WCl and WOCl, nonylphenol, acetylacetone, additives, and fillers the second batch contains the co-catalyst (a combination of an alkyl aluminum compound and a Lewis base such as ether), antioxidants, and elastomeric fillers (qv) for better moldabihty (50). Mixing two Uquids in a mold results in a rapid polymerization reaction. Its rate is controlled by the ratio between the co-catalyst and the Lewis base. Depending on the catalyst composition, solidification time of the reaction mixture can vary from two seconds to an hour. Similar catalyst systems are used for polymerization of norbomene and for norbomene copolymerization with ethyhdenenorbomene. [Pg.431]

The most popiilar dry scrubbing systems for incinerators have involved the spray drying of hme slurries, followed by dry coUection in electrostatic precipitators or fabric filters. Moller and Christiansen [Air Poll. Cout. Assoc. 84-9.5 (1984)] published data on early European technology. Moller et al. [U.S. Patent no. 4,889,698 (1989)] describe the newer extension of that technology to include both spray-dryer absorption and dry scrubbing with powdered, activated carbon injection. They claim greatly improved removal of mercury, dioxins, and NOx. [Pg.1599]

The oranges were washed, chopped in a meat mincer and homogenised by a Fryma mill. Water (0.6 volumes) were added before the slurry was heat treated by steam injection at 100°C for 2 minutes. The enzyme treatment was carried out for 1 hour at 40°C with 10 lU/g slurry of PME and 25 pg enzyme protein/g slurry of the other enzymes for each of the enzymes. The gelated orange slurry were treated at 85°C for 3 minutes to inactivate the enzymes before the strength of the gel was measured by a SMS TeJrture Analyser TA-XT2 (Stable Micro Systems, XT. RA Dimensions, Operations Manual versions) by compression analysis using a flat cylinder (20 mm dia.) with a speed of 2 mm/s. The force to provide a 20% compression was recorded. [Pg.466]
