In addition, establish lines of communication for sharing information pertaining to equipment in need of repair or replacement, plans to remodel, renovate, or redecorate, new uses of building space or increases in occupant population, installation of new equipment. 

Many companies are quite wiiiing to share information on their PSM programs with other firms. CCPS and industry associations provide good places for networking to make the initial contacts that begin this. Attending process safety conferences is a good way to meet people who share your interest in PSM. 

Particularly when benchmarking competitors or other third parties, it is generally helpful to offer information on your own programs. Today some companies are being asked almost daily to take part in benchmarking studies and they are questioning the benefits they receive. If you offer to share information from your own company and the others being benchmarked, it can help open the door.

Greater co-operation among producers could be developed. The World Wide Web has provided a model of sharing information based on very clear technical principles and formats, but with no formal bureaucracy or external control. Researchers using the Web can move easily among computers of many research institutions that are linked to the Internet. Perhaps the National Measurement Institutions that produce RM could make their instruments and laboratories just as open and available to researchers who are characterizing a new material (Rasberry 1998). 

Equipment and ingredient suppliers are an excellent source of information about food processing procedures. Since the processing companies use their products, they have worked extensively with many of the food processors and are very familiar with the technology. The goal of equipment and ingredient suppliers is to sell more of their products, so they will often share information with the knowledge that the information may lead to additional sales in the future. 

Finally, the networks of protein-protein interactions defined by these studies provide a global view of how cellular processes are coordinated. As described below, protein interaction networks from S. cerevisiae indicate that interactions occur not only between proteins involved in certain cellular processes but also between proteins involved in different processes. These links may be crucial for sharing information and thereby coordinating global responses to environmental stimuli.

Each screening center has medicinal and synthetic chemistry expertise in order to optimize hits identified from HTS campaigns and develop them into chemical probes. A number of trends discussed above favor the eventual use of CBRN weapons. The willingness to commit mass murder is primary among them. Cross fertilization among terrorist groups increases the likelihood that terrorists will develop and use more sophisticated tactics and weapons as groups share information and resources on materials, methods, and tactics. Splinter groups are seen as more likely to attempt innovation and the spread of technology will put the power to develop ever more sophisticated weapons in the hands of terrorists. 

It is hoped that this shared information will help to increase the awareness, concern, and actions of individuals to ensure a clean and safe environment. Examples of conferences and seminars are the annual AIChE Loss Prevention Symposium and the CCPS 2000 International Conference Process Industry Incidents. Members of the American Chemistry Council have endorsed a policy for sharing information with outside groups, and other industry associations encourage sharing.
