Sewage, 207 mixing with

Except for the sewer, all utilities could be easily piped into the area. A water heater would have to be istalled, however, since the nearest one in the building was some distance away and already used to capacity. The concrete floor would have to be broken up to accommodate the sewer. A sewage mixing tank would be installed beneath the floor with access for sampling by a waste water inspector. [Pg.144]

The cattle manure with about 25 p.c. dry matter content and the litter is transported by trailer to the reception hopper for manure and solid organic wastes. From here manure will be delivered by a bucket elevator, with the help of feed screw conveyor into the digester tower made of anticorrosive steel. The slurry and the sewage water mixed with faeces will be pumped into the digester. [Pg.365]

A listed hazardous waste cannot be rendered nonhazardous by treatment or by dilution or mixing with nonhazardous materials. EPAhas issued proposals to establish exemption levels for listed wastes that contain small amounts of hazardous substances, but such exemption provisions are not yet established in regulations. Thus, a listed hazardous waste can be exempted from RCRA requirements only by the process of delisting. EPA also has exempted certain materials that contain hazardous substances to allow their beneficial use (e.g., ash and sludge from coalburning power plants, sewage sludge). [Pg.21]

Anions such as cyanides, chromates, and fluorides found in industrial wastes are very toxic to microorganisms. The cyanide and chromate wastes are produced by metal-plating industries. These wastes should not be allowed to mix with sanitary sewage but should be removed by pretreatment. The fluoride wastes are normally produced by the electronics industries. [Pg.165]

Fortunately, the laundry wastewater is mixed with general water in the public sewage and in the sewage treatment plants. As a result of dilution, both temperature and the high pH value of wastewater are considerably decreased. In addition, if laundry wastewater was treated separately, major problems would be encountered in dealing with the load of organic pollutants introduced by household and commercial laundry operations [4]. [Pg.157]

Batch laboratory experiments were carried out to identify the best operating conditions for the continuous system. From the results obtained it was found that the waste should be mixed with at least 20% domestic sewage to compensate the deficiency in nitrogen. A detention time of 6 hours was chosen. The sludge concentration was kept constant around 5g 1 (MLSSj. ... [Pg.119]

It can be concluded that textile wastewaters, when mixed with sewage water, can be successfully treated with ozone in optimum dosing to give quality technological water under economically acceptable conditions. The water obtained from this system is only slightly inferior in some parameters (total hardness, conductivity) to technological water commonly used, and is expected to be employed first in selected textile oparation and then in all textile processings. [Pg.716]

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Process (20) has also been the subject of study. This process is a two-stage countercurrent adsorption system using PAC. Fresh activated carbon is mixed with wastewater in the secondary mixing basin and settled, and then the entire mixture of settled sewage solids and activated carbon is transferred to the primary mixing basin. Settled solids and carbon are removed from the primary settling basin, dewatered, and transferred to a pyrolysis reactor. The reactor produces activated carbon, which is then recycled to the secondary mixing basin. [Pg.137]
