It is now common practice for many vendors to publish and promote their own field servicing standard, either as a stand-alone set of procedures or as part of ISO 9000 series quality standards. Since a water treatment program can so easily fail through inadequate control from the responsible field representative, such documents lay out the minimum acceptable standard for field servicing. The standards will identify the frequency of site visits and what work has to be undertaken by the field representative during each visit. 

Servicing standards will also provide advice on safety, checklists for inspections, product operating conditions, inhibitor reserves to be maintained, and provide methods of sampling, analysis, monitoring, reporting, etc. 

The system is refilled and disinfected for the required period, then put back into service. Standards again vary. Typically for routine maintenance the water is considered disinfected if a 5 ppm free reserve of chlorine is maintained for at least 1 hour. If the system is being decontaminated because of positive Legionella results, the requirement is often 10 ppm... 

The third element is to consolidate service offerings into highly standardized infrastructure products. Once service offerings are stable and the organization is bundled, internal operations can be standardized. The objective of service standardization is to improve stability by reducing the number of technical platforms, and to reduce engineering and deployment costs as the products are built only once. The effects of this can be seen with the introduction of limited desktop profiles for all employees or the standardization of server platforms/services (one Unix, one Linux, one Windows). Drastic standardization is necessary as cost does not scale down in line with complexity reduction. As described in the previous two elements, environments that require high flexibility are not suited to this level of service standardization.

Don t confuse standard work with standard operating procedures (SOP). An SOP typically contains detailed and lengthy instructions for creating or assembling a product or delivering a service. Standard work identifies the best way for a person to complete a particular task and documents this information with pictures or very few words.

Subsidies are given only to accredited providers. Governments may provide subsidies only to providers who can demonstrate that they meet certain quality standards. This limits choice for patients, but if successful it can ensure that they receive better service. The benefits of including some form of accreditation with subsidies accrue directly and indirecdy— direcdy by ensuring that the subsidized services meet certain standards, indirectly by creating an incentive for providers to raise their service standards to meet the requirements for accreditation. As under the second scenario, supply-side—but not demand-side—subsidies have a tendency to undermine the incentive to improve efficiency and patient-perceived quality, particularly if they are large in relation to total provider revenue.

Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of hospital-acquired infections. It is directly responsible for about 1,000 deaths per annum in the UK, is a contributory factor in many more, and imposes a considerable financial burden on health services. Standard microbiological methods take from 2-4 days to determine the presence of MRSA in clinical samples. This limits the value of testing to the monitoring of infection trends rather than in the provision of information to aid in the treatment of patients. A rapid test could be used both to guide the prescription of antibiotics and to identify patients carrying MRSA as a tool in infection control.

Distribution is the set of activities involved in storing and transporting goods and services. The goal has been to achieve the fastest throughput of merchandise at a distribution center with minimal cost. These efforts are measured by intern standards with very little involvement by manufacturers/ vendors and consumers. The service standards are typically set by pursuing efficiencies, not necessarily making sure that consumers have what they want, when and how they want it. 

Process measures are the more traditional measures, which compare the actual work employees perform in the process of creating service with standards for quality and quantity. These might include measures such as time to answer the phone, time to respond to customer inquiries, and ability to solve a problem without passing a customer on to somebody else. These measures are offen associated with the service standards an organization defines. Measuring service standards provides employees with a sense of achievement and accomplishment and motivates them to aim at even higher levels. 

The protection of consumer interests through adequate and consistent quality of goods and. services. Standards provide for the quality of goods and services by defining those features and characteristics that govern their ability to satisfy given needs. Guides to quality assurance are a popular and frequent feature at the moment in both international and national standardization. 

Each originator has its own underwriting and servicing standards. These standards ultimately determine the net loss rate in the originated collateral. It is also important to be aware of the overall health of the economy, for this will affect the performance of the collateral. Collateral that has been originated and serviced in a consistent manner can behave... 

Todsy s existing standards and codes ensure that we have safe structures, safe transportation systems, safe drinking water, safe indoor/outdoor air quality, safe products, and reliable services. Standards also encourage uniformity in the size of parts and components that are made by various manufacturers around the world. 

This consultation was split into two different parts, service standards and categorisation. For service standards, the consultation stated that the Department wished to ensure equity, consistency and quality in the provision of appliances and proposed amendments to t contractors terms of service within the Pharmaceutical Services Regulations such that two levels would be introduced essential and additional. Essential Services were to include dispensing, repeat di nsing, provision of complimentary supplies, product delivery and a telephone care line. Additional services were to include customisation and a telephone care line.
