An Important difference is In the use of materials which in Prance la only about 2/3 of the United States. Precipltatora/fllterm. In the past, it was common to direct water to be treated through a bed of excelsior or a similar medium to aid coalescence of oil droplets (Fig. 6). However, the coalescing medium has a tendency to dog, and many of these devices in oil field service have had the medium removed. In such a case, these units act like vertical skimmers since oil droplets must flow counter-current to the downward flow of water through the area formerly occupied by the medium. 

In oil-field service, the role is to remove oil and suspended solids, compared to solids removal only, as in municipal and industrial applications... 

Natural gas is preferred in oil field service to avoid oxygen corrosion in the flotation cell and downstream equipment. 

Differences in the types of carbon black used in the oil field service lead to the seal explosive decompression problems. The molecular weight of the base rubber also is very critical. 

A careful study of the above tables and figure 12.1 will indicate why a rubber chemist spends a lot of time in designing compounds with various cross link densities for oil field service as well as for other critical applications. It can also be observed that tear strength, fatigue life and toughness, all important requirements for oil field, rubber seals pass through an optimum at low cross link density and fall off with increase in cross link, whereas the most important sealing properties such as hysteresis and compression set improve with increased cross link. 

In high pressure sealing in the oil field service, it should be noted that hardness, modulus, extrusion resistance and resistance to blistering under rapid decompression can all be increased with an improvement in cross link density. However the elongation is reduced, the elasticity diminished and so the sealing potential is lessened. 

Compounds for oil field service typically have higher compression set values due to use of fillers and compounding ingredients dictated by the oil field service requirements. 

Hayes(Ref 2,p 605) and TM 9-1980(Ref 9,p 55) classify the inert bombs as practice, drill and gage. The use of practice bombs is for the same purpose as the practice bomb described in TM 9-1900(Ref 15,p 171), while the use of the drill bomb is the same as that of the dummy bomb of Ref 15,p 172. The gage bomb serves for gaging and testing new types of airplanes for clearance, capacity and functioning of bomb racks. Such bombs are not issued to the field services... 

The concept involves the injection and detonation of a liquid chemical explosive in natural or previously induced fracture systems or the use of a pelletized explosive to enlarge and extend these fractures to provide fragmentation and interwell communication. This study is one of few known research efforts to evaluate results of detonating sheetlike layers of explosive to increase flow capacity in confined rock formations. The literature contained little information to guide the design of the experiments. Some related work, however, had been conducted by a few individuals and oil field service companies. But the best representatives are generally those people who are not only extremely technically astute, but who also excel at selling. This is not a reference to any dubious practices of high-pressure selling, but rather the ability to inspire confidence and loyalty from their customers, due to their honesty, experience, and motivational and organizational skills on-site.
