Chemistries involved in the formulation of compressor cleaners are very soft. These cleaners have all been tested for immersion corrosion, sandwich corrosion, and hot corrosion on metals, alloys, coatings, etc., used in the manufacture of compressors, and their affect on polymeric materials, rubber, silicone elastomers, epoxy adhesives, on painted surfaces, etc., according to existing US MIL-C-85704B specification Cleaning Compound, Turbine Engine Gas Path. ... [Pg.781]

Development work by the US Navy has included attempts to use expls other than RDX and HMX viz, HNS and TACOT (Tetranitro-1,2,5,6-tetraazadibenzocyclooctatetrene) together with binders such as RTV silicon rubbers. As reported by Stott (Ref 43) such work was not fruitful because of the low deton vel and d of the developed compns... [Pg.538]

Equation (52) allows us to estimate the impact of viscoelastic braking on the capillary flow rate. As an example, we will consider that the liquid is tricresyl phosphate (TCP, 7 = 50 mN-m t = 0.07 Pa-s). The viscoelastic material is assumed to have elastic and viscoelastic properties similar to RTV 615 (General Electric, silicone rubber), i.e., a shear modulus of 0.7 MPa (E = 2.1 MPa), a cutoff length of 20 nm, and a characteristic speed, Uo, of 0.8 mm-s [30]. TCP has a contact angle at equilibrium of 47° on this rubber. [Pg.311]

A silicone rubber adhesive layer is used in US-A-4081819 to bond an HgCdTe substrate, which includes an epitaxial layer, to a second substrate. The silicone rubber adhesive reduces the risk that the substrate cracks when cooled to cryogenic temperatures. [Pg.124]

The commercial success of pervaporation has been a disappointment to many process developers. Current pervaporation sales worldwide are probably less than US 10 million almost all are for dehydration of ethanol or isopropanol solutions using water-permeable poly (vinyl alcohol) or equivalent membranes. A smaller market also exists for the separation of volatile organics from water using silicone-rubber membranes. [Pg.329]

RTV silicones face strong competition from moulded silicone gaskets used by US manufacturers, and European manufacturers have preferred to use moulded rubber gaskets in most applications. Furthermore, many applications are developing for liquid injection-moulded gaskets that that can be injected and cured into preformed grooves in an assembled component. Up until now, this has only been possible with silicones, but Freudenberg NOK G.P. has announced a family of non-silicone liquid elastomers ... [Pg.80]

The company is authorized to engage in foreign trade and exports over US 30 million worth of chemical products each year. It has a joint venture with Bayer to produce polycarbonate with annual capacity of 18 000 tonnes. Major products of the company include liquid caustic soda, solid caustic soda, diaphragm caustic soda, PVC resin, liquid chlorine, muriatic (hydrochloric) acid, chlorinated paraffin, chlorinated rubber, trichloro hydrogen-silicon, sodium hypochlorite, carbon tetrachloride, perchloroethylene, calcium hypochlorite, hydrogen fluoride acid, tetrafluoro-dibromoethane, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin, and fluorine refrigerant. [Pg.102]

Compoimd crosslinking silicone rubbers do not form fission products during crosslinking. However, despite the high degree of complete chemical reaction, a 100% reaction cannot be achieved. This means that volatile polymer components remain behind in the finished part. For applications in the food industry or in medical areas, liquid as well as solid silicone rubber products must be tempered in accordance with regulations, for example the German BgW and in the US the FDA. [Pg.122]
