Recording Industry Association

The Recording Industry Association of America estimates that recorded music is a 10.4 billion industry in the United States. In 2008, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that there were 53,600 music directors, arrangers, and composers (with a projected 10 percent increase in the subsequent decade), 114,600 broadcasting and sound engineering professionals (with a projected 8 percent increase in the subsequent decade), and 186,400 commercial musicians and singers (with a projected 8 percent increase in the subsequent decade). [Pg.1253]

FPN No. 1) It is important that the authority having Jurisdiction be familiar with recorded industrial experience as well as with standards of the National Fire Protection Association, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Instrument Society of America that may be of use in the classification of various locations, the determination of adequate ventilation, and the protection against static electricity and lightning hazards. [Pg.637]

In the USA, the toy industry has decided not to disclose what chemicals are used in its products - a move which is against the hopes of Environmental Defense of New York, a group who believes that companies should disclose this information so that the public can make informed choices. Details of the debate are recorded here. ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE TOY INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION US,CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION US,ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY MATTEL INC. HASBRO INC. Raw petroleum and refined petroleum products used as fuels or lubricants are generally excluded at the national level from the cradle-to-grave record-keeping associated with recognized toxics such as heavy metals or chlorinated solvents. With an eye to the availability of petroleum as a source of energy, petroleum production is tracked by the federal government as well as industry trade associations. Statistics are available for wellhead production as well as for production of major bulk fuel types from domestic refineries. These primary production statistics have been summarized in Chapter 4. [Pg.78]

It is worthwhile mentioning that according to the statistic data issued by the IBAW Industrial Association, the production and consumption of bio-based plastics was 50 K Tons in year 2004, and two years later in spite of the rosy perspectives, only a production of 150 K Tons was recorded [11], and nowadays after a decade, it has reached a production level of one order of magnitude higher but maintaining, however, the same proportional gap with respect to the fossil fuel feedstock-based plastics [12] (Fig. 14.1). [Pg.346]

Data on lead consumption (or demand) is not easily available for most countries, and tends to be one of the least precise elements in the industry statistical balance. Metal consumption data is not systematically collected or recorded by many national governments, but estimates of apparent consumption (i.e. domestic production, if any, plus net imports, with adjustment for known stock changes) are often calculated by national industry associations or statistical agencies. This is the approach adopted by most member countries of the ILZSG. The main exceptions are Australia and Canada (which use producers domestic deliveries plus imports), and the UK (where consumption is based on reported consumption by consumers) for those developing countries for which adequate import data is unavailable, the ILZSG instead estimates consumption using total reported exports to these countries. [Pg.138]

This report is by Battelle Columbus Division to the Line Pipe Research Supervisory Committee of the American Gas Association. It presents an analysis of statistical data obtained from reports of lea)c or rupture (service) incidents and test failures in natural gas transmission and gathering lines over the 14.5 year period from 1970 through June, 1984. All gas transmission companies were required to notify the Office of Pipeline Safety Operations in the event of a "reportable" incident, as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations. The purpose of the study is to organize the reportable incident data into a meaningful format from which the safety record of the industry can be assessed. [Pg.111]

Although A/D interface technology is still widely used, there is a continued push by the pharmaceutical industry towards digital instrument control. Much of this is being driven by two factors information-rich detectors which are more commonplace in today s laboratories, and the regulatory pressure that is associated with electronic records (21 CFR... [Pg.595]
