Recommendations development

Discussion with operators provide substantial insight. The purpose of the discussion should be to develop an understanding of operators perspec tives of the unit, their foci for the operation, and their decision sequence in response to deviations and off-specification products. Two additional, albeit nontechnical, goals of this discussion are to establish rapport with the operators and to learn their language. The operators will ultimately be required to implement recommendations developed by analysts. Their confidence is essential to increase the likehhood of success. The following topics should be included in the discussion. [Pg.2553]

The Drought Management Plan Report written by the Water Scarcity and Droughts Expert Network (November 2007) recommends Development of DSS for the best exploitation of aU information available, including drought forecasts, to optimize... [Pg.141]

Our very existence is dependent on a number of metals, the most common of which is iron. Some of the more important ones are described below. As essential elements, the beneficial and adverse effects of these metals have been carefully studied and recommendations developed on daily intake. These recommendations are generally very broad and can vary depending on age - child or adult, young or old - or during pregnancy. The recommended daily intakes quoted below are for adults. These recommendations are actually oral exposure levels with intestinal absorption highly variable and dependent on the metal and other variables. A quick look at a typical cereal box will demonstrate the importance placed on these elements. [Pg.121]

Chao et al. [50] describe a systematic approach to process optimization through process understanding. They recommend developing a process summary that comprises four basic steps ... [Pg.656]

Recommendation Develop a coordinated strategy for biomarker development and population biomonitoring based on the potential for population exposure and public-health concerns. [Pg.33]

Although these are the recommended developer and fixer, I have used Kodak LX24 X-ray film developer and Kodak FX-40 X-ray film fixer with equally good results. [Pg.255]

The subcommittee also recommends developing improved exposure assessments unique to the Navy environment and pertinent to exposures that are particularly important to assessing reproductive and... [Pg.111]

The development, validation, and application of TEFs have been reviewed regularly since 1984 by Safe [25,36,37]. The limitations of this approach have been identified [38]. To assess the relative potencies and to derive consensus on TEFs for PCDDs, PCDFs, and dioxin-like PCBs, the WHO-European Centre for Environmental and Health (WHO-ECEH) and the International Program on Chemical Safety (IPCS) have initiated a project and published their interim report [39]. The most important limitations, namely possible synergism or antagonism among dioxins and its stereo isomers and the lack of pharmacokinetic consideration, have been addressed in this report. USEPA researchers [40] showed that the relative potency of PCBs, PCDFs, and 2,3,7,8-TCDD is tissue specific and thus estimates of TEFs based on hepatic EROD activity is limited. Additionally, limitations of TEFs based on mammalian models to aquatic species have been demonstrated [41]. The international initiative on TEFs has recognized these pitfalls and recommended development of TEFs for fish and other wildlife. [Pg.133]

Because there is evidence that aerosols are more toxic than vapors, the subcommittee recommends development of an analytic method to distinguish between aerosol and vapor exposures in occupational settings. [Pg.26]

Globally, apart from many national frameworks, various international initiatives have been founded, aimed at the prevention of, and coping with, possible bioterrorism scenarios. In 2006, the U.N. General Assembly released its new counterterrorism strategy. It recommends development of a biological incidents database... [Pg.1620]

Semi- Quantitative Risk Analysis (Chapter 4) Faciiity Levei Qualitative risk analysis resulted in the escalation of four of the nine chemical/ mode transportation operations from the Asian facility Increased detail resulted in screening out two of the chemical movements Bulk chlorine and pesticide recommendations developed Rerouting Repackaging... [Pg.157]

The results of the semi-quantitative risk analysis focused on a segment of the chlorine (ton container) route through the medium population density and the entire bulk pesticide transportation route. The recommendations developed for consideration included ... [Pg.159]
