General Assembly

To address the technology, waste, safety and security issues concerning nuclear energy, the UN established the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 1957, a few years after U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower s famous Atoms for Peace speech before the United Nations General Assembly.

This process can be used with advantage for the preparation of conjugated nitroalkenes from nitroalkanes. It is of interest because the majority of known synthetic methods for generating nitroalkenes, the skeletons of target molecules, are generally assembled from simpler molecules (104).

For its part, the Board will support, within its mandate under the 1988 Convention, those activities. However, the Board calls upon the General Assembly to respond to the strong recommendation of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and provide the secretariat with the necessary resources to maintain the activities of the Board under the operations. Those resources would enable the Board to further improve the already productive activities related to the operations. 

At international level, the precautionary principle was first recognized in the World Charter for Nature, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1982 (EU 2000). It was subsequently incorporated into various international conventions on the protection of the environment. 

The principles of medical research are based on the Declaration of Helsinki. The general assemblies of the World Medical Association (WMA) have, since 1964, made recommendations for guiding physicians in clinical research involving human subjects. Although not legally binding, the Declaration forms the foundation of all other significant international documents on the ethical conduct of biomedical research.

Members of the Commission were either Titular Members (TM), Associate Members (AM), or National Representatives (NR). Until and including 1989, commission memberships commenced and terminated (in odd-numbered years) immediately following a biennial lUPAC General Assembly from 1991 they commenced (in even-numbered years) on U January immediately following a General Assembly and terminated at the end of the (odd-numbered) year of a General Assembly. CC denotes Commission Chairman and CS Commission Secretary.
