Rating Systems

Carcass and cover ratings for belts manufactured in the U.S. have been estabUshed by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) (15). Guidance for specific appHcations can be found in Reference 9. Similar, but not the same belt rating systems have been estabUshed in most other countries.

The general purpose of an audit may be to determine if the toller has management systems and documented procedures in place to ensure process safety, environmental responsibility, product quality and traceability of materials. The need to audit could be to evaluate compliance with regulations or accordance with client requirements related to specific performance elements. A subjective rating system for ranking management systems audit results is often used. An example of one that might be appropriate is shown below ...

Banks are not in business to take risks. They rent money and do everything they can to insure the return of their principal as well as the interest. Elaborate rating systems have been developed to measure each company s ability to repay its loans. One criterion is the debt to equity ratio. The higher the debt the more risk in a loan, and the higher the interest rate.

Where low to moderate flow rates are encountered, it is likely that EDI is less expensive when both capital and maintenance costs are considered. For high flow rate systems, there is little to choose between the three technologies, although the EDI does have the advantage of not producing acid or caustic waste streams. 

Figure 11.44 correlates the liquid and vapour flow rates, system physical properties and packing characteristics, with the gas mass flow-rate per unit cross-sectional area with lines of constant pressure drop as a parameter. 

These are different than those given in Table 2-4 because a different rating system was used in 1970.
