A number of approaches are available or under development to predict metabolism, including expert systems such as MetabolExpert (Compudrug), Meteor (Lhasa), MetaFore [42] and the databases Metabolite (MDL) and Metabolism (Synopsys) [43]. Ultimately such programs may be linked to computer-aided toxicity prediction based on quantitative structure-toxicity relationships and expert systems for toxicity evaluation such as DEREK (Lhasa) (see also Chapter 8) [44]. 

Fuel Cells are taken up in Section 1, which begins with a brief overview of fuel cell fundamentals and a synopsis of each of the major fuel cell types. It then provides a review of lEA government work as it relates to each fuel cell type, including R D efforts directed as specific fuel cell types a review of programs undertaking basic fuel cell R D and, the section concludes with a review of fuel cell demonstrations for transportation and stationary applications. 

In situ measurements of the emission and absorption characteristics of the atmosphere always lag behind theoretical developments and laboratory studies. This is primarily attributable to equipment limitations. The laboratory environment is basically friendly, and there, experimenters are not usually faced with limitations of equipment weight, size, and power, and there is no necessity to design to meet adverse environmental conditions. This is not the case when field measurements are undertaken. In the field the elements mentioned above must be considered and solutions provided in order to conduct successful measurement programs. This paper provides a brief synopsis of developments in IR spectroscopy, compares basic system components, and discusses some of our recent efforts to extend measurements techniques, which are now common under controlled laboratory conditions, to the more difficult situation of actual atmospheric measurements. He have not presented a detailed study of a specific single example. Rather, we chose to discuss two typical field instruments and highlight the development of the components of these instruments that ultimately allowed successful system deployment.

The most important element of the entire right-to-know program is employee training and education. In the processing industry all employees—operators, analyzer and instrument technicians, and maintenance personnel—are at risk from hazardous chemicals. Employers are required by the HAZCOM standard to provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. The employee training section should contain a synopsis of the educational program. It should provide a description of how the company intends to train its employees about routine hazards and hazards created by non-routine tasks.
