The average carbon biomass of Sybechococcus in the East China Sea ranged from 0.09 g C/m (early spring) to 0.90 g C/m (autumn). The upward flux of nitrate into the euphotic zone in the South China Sea was calculated by the coupled Ra-nitrate approach, and further converted into a new production of 4.4 mmol C/(m d) based on a Redfleld ratio of 6.6 for C N. The 234 j jj.238u disequilibrium and the measm-ed ratio of POC to particulate Th yield a POC export flux of 5.7 imnol C/(m d), and it is consistent with the new production calculated by nutrient budget. Based on the Th- Ra disequilibrium, POC export flux was estimated to be 1.7 mmol C/(m -d), significantly lower than the derived new production. The discrepancy can be caused by the uncertainty of the DOC transport or accumulation of the data obtained in different ways and over different seasons and dm-ations. 

Equipment—client may not have the equipment required to manufacture a specific product. It may be that available capital and installation time are limited such that they simply can not design, acquire, install and test the process equipment to reach the desired capacity within the available budget and time. If a product is in the early stages of its life cycle, the capital required may be hard to justify. This could be based upon the low initial volume anticipated while developing the market or the need to take advantage of a time-sensitive business opportunity. Tolling can provide a means to safely produce introductoiy, short-term, or small volume products that would otherwise be uneconomic. 

Evolution in telescope making since the Palomar has not been limited to the area of optical production. Any ground-based telescope of appreciable size will be primarily limited by the effect of atmospheric turbulence, not to mention the proportion of photometric nights allowed by weather conditions. 

This is more likely to be a problem for country U, which is assumed to still rely on market-based pricing of patented products, than for country T, which sets prices. However, country T has a heavier burden in setting those initial prices and, in the interests of economizing on the social insurance budget, may be tempted to set the price too low.
