Priority logic

To apply the strict semantics of a case statement in synthesis to hardware, a nested if-like structure (priority logic if this do this, else if this do this, else. ..) is synthesized. Here is an example of a case statement.

What if the designer knows that all case item values are mutually exclusive In such a case, a decoder can be synthesized for a case statement control (the case expression is checked for all possible values of the case item values in parallel) instead of the priority logic (which could potentially be nested deep depending on the number of branches in the case statement). 

The information that all case item values are mutually exclusive needs to be passed to the synthesis tool. This is done by using a synthesis directive called parallel case. When such a directive is attached to a case statement, a synthesis tool interprets the case statement as if all case items are mutually exclusive. Since the synthesis directive appears as a comment in the Verilog HDL model, it has no effect on the language semantics of the model. This implies that no priority logic is synthesized for the case statement control instead decoding logic is used. Here is the case statement with the parallel case directive.

With the synthesis directive, decoding logic is synthesized for the branching logic as shown in Figure 2-37. Without the synthesis directive, priority logic is synthesized as shown in Figure 2-36.

These programs have a logical role in each of the priority areas spelled out in this report, and increased support from NSF is vital to the goal of expanding chemical engineering into new areas. The committee proposes the following new initiatives for the Foundation. 

The interpretation of the priority of physics over chemistry in the logic and history of the scientific disciplines has been strongly rooted in Comte s positivist history, the general outline of which still dominates much of popular scientific teaching as well as the classification of scientific knowledge. 

It is not necessary to emphasise here that the inadequate use of the "control" (see instruction manual. In the conventional view, (1) is logically prior to (2) however, it is perfectly possible to reverse the logical priority of (1) and (2) so that, in effect, we can choose to define the radial measure in terms of (2) rather than assume that it is known by some independent means. If this is done, then, we have immediately, made it impossible to conceive of radial measure in the absence of material. With this as a starting point, we are able to construct a completely Machian cosmology in a way outlined in the following sections.

This is the basic philosophy detailed in the CCPS Guidelines for Risk Based Process Safety (CCPS, 2007a). Focus more priority on improving the elements that apply to the process areas with the highest potential process safety risk. Logically, more metrics (in addition to a base set of key metrics applied to all sites) will likely be used to track performance for those operations with the highest potential process safety risk. 

There is a basic concept with respect to which pharmaceutical processes should be given a higher priority over others. All pharmaceutical manufacturing processes require process validation documentation, but there is an accepted logical approach to priority selection, in the following order ...
