Permeability is the conductance of the medium and has direct relevance to Darcy s law. Permeability is related to the pore size distribution, since the distribution of the sizes of entrances, exits and lengths of the pore walls constitutes the primary resistance to flow. This parameter reflects the conductance of a given pore structure. 

Sweating, the other powerful heat loss mechanism actively regulated by the thermoregulatory center, is most developed in humans. With about 2,6 million sweat glands distributed over the skin and neurally controlled, sweat secretion can vary from 0 to 1 I7(h m ). The other, lesser, passive evaporative process of the skin is from the diffusion of water. The primary resistance to this flow is the stratum corneum or outermost 15 pm of the skin. The diffusion resistance of the skin is high in comparison to that of clothing and the boundary layer resistance and as a result makes water loss by diffusion fairly stable at about 500 grams/day.

Primary resistance A resistance is inserted into the supply to the motor. This reduces the voltage available at the motor terminals on starting, and this voltage increases gradually as the motor current falls when the motor speeds up. Once the motor has reacted at a predetermined speed the resistance banks are short-circuited. 

Preexisting antimicrobial resistance is an increasing cause of treatment failure and is estimated to account for up to 70% of all treatment failures. Geography is the most important factor in HP resistance. Metronidazole-resistant strains are more prevalent in Asia (85%) than North America (30%).15 Primary resistance to amoxicillin and tetracycline remains low in both the United States and Europe. Total peripheral resistance (TPR) is the resistance to blood flow offered by all systemic vessels taken together, especially by the arterioles, which are the primary resistance vessels. Therefore, MAP is regulated by cardiac activity and vascular smooth muscle tone. Any change in CO or TPR causes a change in MAP. Factors related to the pathogen include the development of drug resistance during therapy. Primary resistance refers to the intrinsic resistance of the pathogens producing the infection. However, acquisition of resistance during treatment has become a major problem as well.

Resistance to IM can be defined at dififerent levels and dififerent time points. These categories are outlined in Table 1. The model presented in this paper assumes that mass transfer and chemical kinetics are consecutive steps. Primary resistance for the transfer of toluene from the organic phase into the acid phase lies in the organic phase film. This mass transfer step is followed by homogeneous reaction uniformly over the entire acid phase. If the nitrator is run such that the toluene content of the organic phase is high, diffusional resistance as well as the chemical reaction will be confined to an acid film and the model proposed by Hanson and co-workers (11) will be more applicable. 

Frequently these systems are described as chrome plating but it is nickel rather than chromium that gives the primary resistance to attack.
