Pressure-sensitive adhesives lamination formulation

Acrylics Solutions and aqueous emulsions Both thermoplastic and thermoset formulations available Very wide adhesion range Excellent resistance to discolouration, hght, and oxidation Curing types are available that have wash and dry-cleaning resistance Pressure-sensitive adhesives Laminating adhesives... [Pg.344]

Adhesives. Acryhc emulsion and solution polymers form the basis of a variety of adhesive types. The principal use is in pressure-sensitive adhesives, where a film of a very low T (<—20 " C) acrylic polymer or copolymer is used on the adherent side of tapes, decals, and labels. Acrylics provide a good balance of tack and bond strength with exceptional color stabiUty and resistance to aging (201,202). AcryUcs also find use in numerous types of constmction adhesive formulations and as film-to-film laminating adhesives (qv). [Pg.172]

Applications for polychloroprene latex adhesives are considered as alternatives to solvent-based adhesives. They include high-pressure lamination, foam bonding, pressure sensitive adhesives, and for bonding vinyl substrates. Formulations for each application are suggested. [Pg.108]

Adh6SiVGS. Acrylic emnlsion polymers are nsed in a wide variety of adhesives. Pressure-sensitive Adhesives, which typically have Tg values less than 20° C, are the main type of acrylic adhesive. Acrylic polymers and copolymers find use as PSAs in tapes, decals, and labels. Along with their aforementioned superior chemical resistance properties, acrylics possess an excellent balance of tack, peel, and shear properties which is crucial in the adhesives market (218,219). Other types of adhesives that employ acrylics include construction formulations and film-to-film laminates. [Pg.167]

Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) and laminating adhesives are the two major growth areas for UV/EB applications in adhesive formulations. The field of UV/EB pressure sensitive adhesives is growing steeply at around 25% annually and growth is likely to be accelerated in the near future. [Pg.75]

Butyl and polyisobutylene are used for paper adhesives, laminating polymer fihn, pressure sensitive adhesives, pipe wrap, and electrical tape. Butyl latex adhesives can be formulated for a variety of special use foil/paper laminates, labels, plywood/polyolefin laminates and pressure sensitive... [Pg.310]

Engineered pressure-sensitive laminates are formulated to adhere to specific substrates and can either be permanent or removable, depending on the end-use application. Permanent adhesives possess high ultimate adhesion to a variety of surfaces and are intended to last the lifecycle of the end-use product. Removable adhesives, on the other hand, are characterized by low ultimate adhesion to surfaces and are intended for applications that require... [Pg.29]

The laminate sheet is a flexible decorative sheet for use in surfacing an automobile body panel. The laminate revealed in this invention contains several layers, including clearcoat, tie coat, color coat, and adhesive layer. Clearcoat is formulated from polyvinylidene fluoride (to assure excellent weather resistance), tie coat is formulated from acrylic (good adhesion to both clear coat and color coat and weather resistance), color coat was formulated from PVC (see formulation in the above table) and adhesive was pressure sensitive acrylic formulation. [Pg.246]
