Electrical Tapes

Electrical tapes comprise diflFerent types of backings. Conveniently they are treated in a separate section as they have to fulfill common specific requirements e.g. good electrical properties under dry and moist conditions, long service life at elevated temperatures, and often they need flame resistance and must be free from any substance corrosive to metal surfaces and from any emission harmful to electrical contacts. [Pg.120]

These requirements are described by national and international standards like PSTC [220], UL [271], ASTM [221], VDE [272], and DIN [273]. The International Electrotechnical Commission GEC) [274] has established a worldwide network to unify all national standards and test methods concerning electrical tapes. [Pg.120]

As temperature often is the dominant aging factor in electrical insulating systems, certain basic thermal classes have been recognized internationally (Table 8). [Pg.120]

Within each class certain combinations of backings and adhesives are feasible. For long-term service above 150 °C, silicone-based PSAs must be used. [Pg.120]

Electrical Applications. The largest application of PTFE is for hookup and hookup-type wire used in electronic equipment in the military and aerospace industries. Coaxial cables, the second largest appHcation, use tapes made from fine powder resins and some from granular resin. Interconnecting wire appHcations include airframes. Other electrical appHcations include computer wire, electrical tape, electrical components, and spaghetti tubing. [Pg.355]

Assure that the bottom point (between the extension and the conical black piece) of the cassette is sealed tightly with a shrink band of electrical tape. Point the open end of the cassette down to minimize contamination. [Pg.245]

A glance at the vapor pressure curve for butane will, however, reveal that in winter there is a possibility of butane vapor liquefying after the vaporizer if the temperature is allowed to fall in the pipeline, even at moderate pressure. For this reason, such pipework is usually heated, either by electrical tapes or, if available, by steam or hot-water lines. [Pg.302]

Field fortification samples are stored under various conditions in the fleld. Generally, after the weathering period is complete, the fleld fortification samples such as dosimeter sections are wrapped in aluminum foil, placed in a pre-labeled zip-type bag, and immediately placed on dry-ice in a cooler or in a freezer. Field fortification samples such as hand washes or face wipes are prepared in labeled jars, the lids are immediately taped with electrical tape, and the jars are placed in a zip-type bag and wrapped in bubble-pack and immediately placed in frozen storage. Air tubes or air filters are collected after weathering and wrapped so as to prevent breakage. These samples are then placed in a pre-labeled zip-type bag and immediately placed in frozen storage. [Pg.1015]

The cured polymer samples used for physical property testing were prepared by photocuring 12 mil thick sheets of degassed and photosensitized monomer mixtures, using a mold composed of glass plates lined with polyester film and separated by a double thickness of vinyl electrical tape. A GE sunlamp was used for Illumination, and Darocure 1173 (E. Merck) was used as the photoinitiator. Hydrocarbon monomers were used as received from the manufacturers. All the vinyl group-containing compounds were stored at -5°C until use. [Pg.40]

If sample tube stoppers become loose during a run (a possible problem caused by the pressure of sample volatility), they can be secured using electrical tape placed around the neck of the sample tube and over the stopper top, between the tubes inserted in the stopper. [Pg.545]

T In a study by Brown, it was found that white protective wrapping tape made a small, but noticeable, difference in how long liquid nitrogen would remain in a Dewar as opposed to no tape or black electrical tape. [Pg.397]

Immediately soak the cotton-tipped stick in water to prevent formation of nitrocellulose. Rinse the membrane surface many times with deionized water to remove excess acid. Peel off the electrical tape that is holding the membrane in place and put the membrane in a 50-mL beaker. Cracks in the membrane are not a concern at this point. [Pg.468]

An old trick we armchair commandos use is to tape two loaded clips end to end with black electrical tape. This makes a 60-shot clip with 2 thirty round mags. [Pg.45]

About three inches from the bottom of the can, wind plastic electrical tape around the condenser tubing maybe four of five turns. Just back toward the can, wind another section of tape maybe eight or nine turns, then begin winding more tape from the thicker part to about an inch beyond the thinner part. [Pg.102]

Remove the bulldog clips and electrical tape from the bottom edge of the plates with a scalpel, and fit into sequencing gel apparatus. Fill tanks with IX TBE and pre-run the gel, for 30-60 min at approximately 35 40mA/1500-1900V, 60W for a 0.4 mm gel. [Pg.160]
