Pressure, sensation

Supraventricular tachycardias may cause a variety of clinical manifestations ranging from no symptoms to minor palpitations and/or irregular pulse to severe and even life-threatening symptoms. Patients may experience dizziness or acute syncopal episodes symptoms of HF anginal chest pain or, more often, a choking or pressure sensation during the tachycardia episode. 

On eyes Miosis (constriction of pupils) redness, pressure sensation on eyes. 

Sensation Normal Painful, pinprick sensation intact Pressure sensation only or no sensation... 

Adverse effects. General reactions include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, disorientation, pressure sensations in the chest, myalgia, hypotension, a metallic taste, urticaria and hypersensitivity. Intravenous iron may rarely cause anaphylactoid reactions and facilities for cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be available. 

The available data on rizatriptan have been reviewed. Only safety aspects are mentioned here. With oral administration, adverse effects were mild and transient in placebo-controlled trials. Digestive intolerance, dizziness, somnolence, weakness and fatigue, and pain or pressure sensations were the most commonly mentioned (6). 

These signs and symptoms occur within minutes or hours following exposures. The signs and symptoms following vapor exposure include miosis and visual disturbances, headache and pressure sensation, runny... 

Rhode (20) reported an immediate increase in the threshold for pain and temperature after 15 mg. of morphine subcutaneously, but touch and pressure sensations were only slightly decreased. Griinthal and Hoefer (21) noted no definite effect on cold and warm sensations after 10 mg. of morphine, but pain and pressure sensations were definitely diminished.

In this chapter, we introduce the wearable tactile display and the tactile synthesis method using IPMC actuators. Our display can represent texture feeling and pressure sensation by controlling three physical characteristics roughness, softness and Metion. 

The concepts of the selective stimulation method are illustrated in Figure 8.6. There are four types of mechanoreceptors embedded in human fingers FA I (Meissner s corpuscle), SA I (Merkel corpuscle), FA II (Pacinian corpuscle) and SAII (Ruffini endings) [18]. It is known that each receptor has temporal response characteristics for mechanical stimulation and causes subjective sensation corresponding to its responsive deformation. For example, SA I detects static deformations of skin and produces static pressure sensation, and FA I detects the velocity of the deformation and produces the sense of fluttering vibration. Tactile impression is an integrated sensation of these elementary sensations. To present tactile feel arbitrarily, stimuh applied to these receptors should be controlled selectively.

Using this method, the softness of materials, which we feel instantaneously when the finger touches a surface, can be expressed by the parameter of amplimde for the frequency components of 5 Hz. If the pressure sensation is larger, the contacting object has more stiffness. 

The most frequently reported adverse events are headache, polycythemia, tiredness, common cold, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pains, chest pressure sensation, back pain, leg pain, and dizziness, as confirmed in a phase I open bioequivalence parallel group study of two recombinant human epoetin alfa products the pattern of the adverse events revealed no relevant differences between the erythropoietin derivatives [95 ]. Patients who were randomized to early intervention with immediate epoetin alfa (n = 68) or to standard intervention with epoetin alfa (n = 68), and a further 50 who were not randomized, pain, injection-site pain, bone pain, and deep vein thrombosis were observed [96 ]. 

This type of complication may represent a permanent risk to the procedure because of the dependency on underlying disease. Changes in blood pressure, sensations of pain, and hormonal reactions (e.g. in RFA of the adrenals or in metastases of neuroendocrine tumours) can affect the patient s condition during the procedure. Therefore, it is mandatory to know the patient s medical condition before the procedure to be able to address any necessary additional medical support ahead of a potential complication.
