Any woman diagnosed with GDM should be retested at 6 weeks postpartum. If the fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level is normal, then reassessment for DM should occur every 3 years. Family planning for subsequent pregnancies should be discussed, and monitoring for the development of symptoms of DM should be undertaken.

Division of Research and the University of Califomia-San Francisco School of Medicine (Cohn et al., 2003). They measured pesticide metabolites in preserved postpartum maternal serum samples from 1960 to 1963. They also recorded time to pregnancy in their eldest daughters 28-31 years later. The daughters probability of pregnancy fell by 32% for each 10 mcg/1 detected, three decades after the exposure.

Treatment of gonorrhea during pregnancy is essential to prevent ophthalmia neonatorum. The CDC recommends that either tetracycline (1%) ophthalmic ointment or erythromycin (0.5%) ophthalmic ointment be instilled in each conjunctival sac immediately postpartum to prevent ophthalmia neonatorum. 

Therapy with INH results in a transient elevation in serum transaminases in 12% to 15% of patients and usually occurs within the first 8 to 12 weeks of therapy. Risk factors for hepatotoxicity include patient age, preexisting liver disease, and pregnancy or postpartum state. INH also may result in neurotoxicity, most frequently presenting as peripheral neuropathy or, in overdose, seizures, and coma. Patients with pyridoxine deficiency, such as alcoholics, children, and the malnourished, are at increased risk, as are patients who are slow acetylators of INH and those predisposed to neuropathy, such as those with diabetes. 

Mirex concentrations in plasma of pregnant goats fed daily doses of 1 mg/kg for 61 weeks stabilized after 15 weeks (Smrek et al. 1977). An increase in the dose from 1 to 10 mg/kg at the end of the study resulted in an increase in the plasma level of mirex. Females dosed for 18 weeks starting at the first day postpartum had plasma levels that were similar to females that were started on mirex in early pregnancy (Smrek et al. 1977).

Male meadow voles, M.pennsylvanicus, respond strongly to the anogenital area odor of females only immediately after parturition and for 2 days afterwards, the time of postpartum estrus (Ferkin and Johnston, 1995b). Females, by comparison, responded to male odor throughout their pregnancy and lactation (Ferkin and Johnston, 1995b).

Postpartum administration Postpartum administration in non-nursing mothers may begin at the first postpartum examination (4 to 6 weeks), regardless of whether spontaneous menstruation has occurred. Also, start no earlier than 4 to 6 weeks after a midtrimester pregnancy termination. 

Antiemetic (parenteral only) - In controlling nausea and vomiting (excluding nausea and vomiting of pregnancy). As pre- and postoperative and pre- and postpartum adjunctive medication to control emesis. 

Obstetric infections include infections which occur during pregnancy, delivery and in the postpartum period, and which affect the uterus or its content. Clinical entities are amnionitis, and post partum or post-caesarean endometritis and infected abortion. Symptoms are lower abdominal pain, fever and eventually foetid amniotic fluid or lochia. 

Answer Treatment of thrombosis can be initiated during pregnancy with infusion of argatroban, a direct inhibitor of thrombin. This drug does not cross the placenta and has not been reported to produce effects in the fetus. Argatroban is discontinued at the time of delivery, and thrombosis is then managed postpartum for 2 months with warfarin.
