The effect of strongly adsorbed organic additives is illustrated by the analysis of Cd electrodeposition process from 0.25 M CdSOq in 0.50 M H2SO4 to which 3.3 g dm polyoxyethylene alkylphenol (9.5 mol ethylene oxide) was added [14]. Electrodeposition of Cd was performed onto a stationary vertical flat Cu electrode of surface area 1x1 cm placed in the middle of a cylindrical cell of a diameter of 6 cm and a height of 5 cm. Anionic surfactants (such as sodium dodecyl sulfate), cationic surfactants (such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) (163), and nonionic surfactants (such as the polyoxyethylenated alkylphenols) (136,338) have been used in preparing emulsions. Different types of surfactants can be used in the same recipe (377) to provide additional stability under specific conditions. For example, mixtures of anionic and nonionic surfactants are common. The pore morphology of microemulsion-based solid polymer depends on the initial microstructure of the microemulsion as determined by the type of surfactant and cosurfactant in addition to composition. A similar detergency maximum at almost the same oxyethylene content has been observed in the removal of oily soil from metal surfaces using similar surfactants in an alkaline, built formulation (Komor, 1969).
