Polyethylene glycol resin properties

Polyoxyethylene Esters. This series of surfactants consists of polyoxyethylene (polyethylene glycol) esters of fatty acids and aUphatic carboxyhc acids related to abietic acid (see Resins, natural). They differ markedly from mono- and diglycerides in properties and uses. [Pg.249]

The strength properties of polyethylene glycol treated wood are virtually those of the swollen wood. This is not surprising as the polymer tends to maintain green wood dimensions. Unlike heat stabilized and formaldehyde cross-linked wood and wood bulked by resin forming polymers within the cell walls (to be considered later), the toughness of the wood is not adversely affected by polyethylene glycol treatment (35). [Pg.134]

Cross-linked polyamide (PA)-based resins and composite PS-polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based resins are much more hydrophilic supports exhibiting physical properties different from PS resins at microscopic and macroscopic levels (7). These supports, often with a lower loading capacity, may represent an alternative to standard cross-linked PS resins for the synthesis of difficult sequences and large peptides. [Pg.8]

PEG-PS supports were developed to allow better solvation of the growing peptide chain in polar aprotic solvents commonly used for peptide synthesis. The PEG resins were also shown to have excellent mechanical stability, which allows their use in continuous-flow systems [19]. Other PEG-con-taining supports include poly(trimethylolpropane ethoxy late [14/3 EO/ OH)triacrylate-co-allylamine] (CLEAR) [28] and poly(A,A-dimethylac-rylamide-co-bisacrylamido polyethylene glycol-co-monoacrylamidopoly-ethylene glycol) (PEGA) [29,30], and have demonstrated promising properties. [Pg.83]

Wang and Cheng reported preparation of ultraviolet light-curable resin for coating optical fibers. It consists of polydimethylsiloxane epoxy acrylate and polyethylene glycol urethane acrylate. To this were added in different proportions trimethylolpropane triacrylate to modify the properties of blends. After addition of a photoinitiator the choice formulation photo cured in 5 seconds. [Pg.191]

Polyethylene glycol (200) dibenzoate n. C6H5C0(0CH2CH2)40C0-C6H5. a plasticizer compatible with cellulose acetate butyrate, ethyl cellulose, polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, and vinyl resins. Its major application is with phenol-formaldehyde resins in laminating applications, to improve flexibility without loss of electrical properties and high-temperature capability. [Pg.751]

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET, polyethylene glycol terephthalate) n. A saturated, thermoplastic polyester resin made by condensing ethylene glycol, and terephthalic acid, used for textile fibers, water-clear, biaxially oriented film (e.g., Mylar ) and, more recently, for extruded, thermoform-able sheet (TV-dinner trays), injection-molded parts, and large, blow-molded, soft-drink bottles. It is extremely hard, wear- and chemical-resistant, dimensionally stable, and has good dielectric properties. See also polyester, saturated and crystallized polyethylene terephthalate (See image). [Pg.751]

Modifications are possible to give more unusual properties to the resin. Inclusion of polyethylene glycol as polyol produces an alkyd which is water dispersible. One such alkyd has been used in white spirit-based gloss house paint. This paint can be washed from brushes using a weak detergent solution in water without requiring the use of organic solvent. [Pg.182]

Other resins compatible with both batchwise and continnons-flow SPPS are poly(A -[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]acrylamide) (core Q) (155), polyethylene glycol dimethylacrylamide (PEGA) resins (156,157), and cross-linked ethoxylate acrylate resin (CLEAR). CLEAR has excellent swelling properties in a wide range of polar and nonpolar solvents ranging from water to DCM (158). [Pg.6502]

Yeast microbodies from a Kloechera sp. have been immobilized by entrapment in a photocrosslinkable resin composed of hydroxyethylacrylate and polyethylene glycol, and by intra-crosslinking with glutaraldehyde in the presence of albumin. The activities and properties of gel-entrapped and free microbodies were compared. [Pg.566]

Principally, the purpose of the spacer is to alter the swelling properties of the resin, in this way imparting the resin a better solvent eompatibility. For example, in Tenta Gel resin, the graft polyethylene glycol serves as a spacer and makes the styrene-divinyl benzene eopolymer swell in presenee of water, which otherwise would not do. [Pg.33]
