Electrochemical polarization

The potentiodynamic polarization electrochemical technique can be used to study and interpret corrosion phenomena. It may also furnish useful information on film breakdown or repair. [Pg.2431]

Polarization cell Measurement of kinetic data by polarization Electrochemical composition actors (electrolyzers, pumps, windows), electrochemical composition sensors (amperometric, conductometric)... [Pg.6]

These tests focused on the determination of a materials resistance to localized (pitting) corrosion. To accomplish this goal, three types of electrochemical experiments were conducted (cyclic polarization, electrochemical scratch, and potenti-ostatic holds) to measure several key parameters associated with pitting corrosion. These parameters were the breakdown potential, EM, the repassivation potential, Etp, and the passive current density, tpass. [Pg.383]

It is preferable to carry out laboratory corrosion tests and to validate the data with service tests for the selection of materials. It is needless to note that the chosen test method be reliable and cost effective. Some of the test methods in use in industry are service tests, field tests, laboratory tests, and rapid electrochemical methods such as potentiodynamic polarization, linear polarization, electrochemical impedance and electrochemical noise. [Pg.109]

The present availabihty of numerous types of solid electrolytes permits transport control of various kinds of mobile ionic species through those solid electrolytes in solid electrochemical cells, and permits electrochemical reactions to be carried out with the surrounding vapor phase to form products of interest. This interfacing of modem vapor deposition technology and solid state ionic technology has led to the recent development of polarized electrochemical vapor deposition (PEVD). PEVD has been applied to fabricate two types of solid state ionic devices, i.e., solid state potenfiometric sensors and solid oxide fuel cells. Investigations show that PEVD is the most suitable technique to improve the solid electrolyte/electrode contact and subsequently, the performance of these solid state ionic devices. [Pg.104]
