PMMA injection

Besides acrylics or PMMA, injection molding was also carried out on regular and optical-quality PC chips [187]. Furthermore, three PS plastic plates were injection molded to create the microfluidic channels, which were employed for a biomolecular interaction study. The upper plastic plate with ridge patterns was ultrasonically welded to the middle plate. The middle plate was sealed to the bottom plate with a molded silicone rubber layer [188],... [Pg.29]

Using current methods for PMMA injection, there is a high risk of cement leakage into the spinal canal when the cement is injected in the posterior region of the vertebral body. However, the above-mentioned biomechanical studies indicate that cement injection in this region tends to provide improved biomechanical stability to the vertebral body (Ahn et al. 2006). Cement leakage, particularly into the spinal canal, is still considered as the primary concern associated with PV However, as the effects of cement location and volume become better understood, less cement injection may be required... [Pg.546]

Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) have become a common procedure for treatment of vertebral compression fractures (Layton et al. 2007). Usually, the procedure is performed under fluoroscopy. Up to now, control CT was necessary to confirm correct distribution of PMMA after the procedure. FD-CT renders this control CT uimeces-sary it provides all the information needed. A considerable advantage is the possibility to perform FD-CT in the angiography suite without moving the patient. This allows confirmation of correct needle position prior to PMMA injection as well (Fig. 40.19). Furthermore, in primarily intended mono-pedicular procedures, this allows accurate, three-dimensional assessment of PMMA distribution. This may be helpful for the decision whether an additional needle placement into the contralateral side is required. [Pg.575]

The performance of HOPC is compared for separation by columns of different diameters (21). A 25 wt % solution of PMMA 130K in THF was injected. Separation of another polymer or of the same polymer at a different concentration results in a different optimal column thickness. [Pg.627]

A liner containing glass wool was installed in the injection port of the GC to trap polymer residues. A solution containing a known amount of the carbamate in THF along with sulfolane as an internal standard was used to establish the concentration of carbamates in the PMMA and PPMA matrix. Quantum yields were then determined. Product ratios were calculated from UV difference spectra (taken on a Beckman DK-2A spectrometer) of films before and after photolysis. [Pg.120]

A hospital trolley developed by Bayer and GMP is described. The trolley is equipped with a portable computer for the collection and management of patient information with the aim of reducing medical errors. The main component is a sandwich stracture reaction injection monlded in Bayer s Baydnr 60 PU and consisting of a cellnlar core and a smooth skin. Other components are made of PP, PMMA or polycarbonate. Developments by GMP in the nse of PU foams in refrigerator manufacture are also reviewed, and tnmover fignres are presented for the Company. [Pg.52]

A Waters Associates Anaprep GPC fitted with one 4 ft X 2.4 inches od Styragel column having a nominal porosity of 104 A was used for the preparative fractionation of the PMMA blend in tetrahydrofuran at a temperature of 25 °C and at a flow rate of 30 ml/min. The degasser and differential refractometer were operated at 35° and 25 °C, respectively. Samples having concentrations of 0.25 wt-vol % were respectively, automatically injected from a 100 ml loop over a 5-minute period. Ten 125 ml fractions were automatically collected for each sample injection. Upon... [Pg.132]

On the other hand, although injection voltage does not directly influence the amperometric detection, it affects the analytical signals recorded. Thus, the influence of the injection voltage on the analytical signals has been studied in a PMMA microchip with an end-channel... [Pg.854]

PMMA and Topas commercial microchip (Microfluidic-ChipShop, Germany) with a 54-mm-long separation channel (between the running buffer, A, and the waste/detection, B, reservoirs) and 9-mm-long injection channel (between the sample, C, and the sample waste, D, reservoirs) is shown in Fig. 48.1. [Pg.1278]

Table 48.1 displays the detection, injection, and separation conditions as well as the different parameters for the sample mixture of H202 and AsA obtained using PMMA and Topas microchip with the end-channel Pt wire detector. [Pg.1283]

Another method presented in this paper is the indirect eb method when the C -lace of a LiNbOs ferroelectric is preliminary coated by a highly defective layer of the amorphous photo-resist material pmma. The thickness of this dielectric layer is large enough to protect the LiNb03 from penetration of high energy electrons into the bulk. In the presented calculations and simulation a very limited number of electrons penetrated into the LiNbOs crystal, so most of the injected electron charge remains trapped in the pmma layer. [Pg.202]

A photocurable resin (hydroxyethylmethacrylate or HEMA) was injected (by N2 gas) into two aligned PMMA channel plates for bonding and surface modification. This method can bond PMMA plates well and produce a hydrophilic... [Pg.38]
