Planning of the design

A 3 factorial design was used for the 4 variables studied disintegrant concentration (C), compression load (F), storage temperature (T) and storage relative humidity (R), at three levels each. Since the levels of each variable were not expressed in units of the same order, comparison of the extent of the contribution of the effect of the different variables was difficult. In order to be able to compare the effect of the different variables, the values of the variable levels were standardized (Table 8.1). [Pg.313]

The general form of the model which describes the effect of the variables is given by the following formula  [Pg.313]

Since the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of the change in the tablet properties during storage as a parameter to express the physical stability of tablet formulations, the Storage to Initial Ratio of the crushing strength (SIR(S)) and of the disintegration time (SIR(D)) were calculated and used as response values for equation (2). The calculations of SIR(S) and SIR(D) were performed as in equation (1). The mean of the measurements directly after preparation were used as initial value. [Pg.313]

The various designs differ in the extent to which heat exchange is used, in the plan of the pipe-stiU furnace, in the distillation pressure, and in whether recycle of pitch or base tar is involved. [Pg.336]

Your design and development plans may also need to be subdivided into plans for special aspects of the design, such as reliability plans, safety plans, electromagnetic compatibility plans, configuration management plans. [Pg.240]

The standard requires that formal documented reviews of the design results be planned at appropriate stages of the design. [Pg.256]

If the plan of the building (and the same applies to its cross-sectional features) is precisely and inflexibly related to the initial plant layout and the production processes known at design stage, non-adaptability to later desirable changes in use is clearly a durability factor. [Pg.56]

The design of this fish study centered on sample collection, preservation, preparation, analysis, and QA/QC. There was no discussion of the effect of compositing on the sample population. No description was given of statistical techniques to be applied to the data for reporting results and for comparison with action levels and future data. Unfortunately, the omission of a statistical framework during planning of the field study is the rule rather than the exception in hazardous waste investigations. [Pg.7]

Because the sampling plan is central to the overall objective of an LSMBS, the plan should be statistically designed. The overall intent of the design is that... [Pg.237]

It is clear that some proper planning in the design phase of new houses can lead to less likelihood of indoor radon problems and make provision for lower cost modifications later to mitigate against such problems. The experience in Sweden is that houses with low radon concentrations can be constructed on high risk soils by proper design and construction practices. [Pg.12]

The Contalab, initially supplied by Contraves, was purchased by Mettler-Toledo, which is now placing less emphasis on this design than on the RC1. Some comments here are appropriate, however, since it is another type of bench-scale calorimeter, and units continue to be used. Its measuring system is based on the heat balance principle, in which a heat balance is applied over the cooling/heating medium. For this purpose, both the flow rate of the coolant and its inlet and outlet temperatures must be known accurately. Figure 3.12 is a schematic plan of the Contalab. [Pg.119]

The spiral model works well in any context in which the current plan must depend on the outcome of earlier work expenditure increases along the spiral each cycle includes a review of results and risks, and it drives a refinement of the goals and plans of the next cycle. An early spiral typically covers a much broader area in requirements and a much narrower piece of design the situation reverses in later cycles. Lessons learned from any spiral feed back into the most abstract level of models that are affected. There are... [Pg.536]

A diagrammatic plan of the Paris-Edinburgh press is shown in Eig. 2. The press can use a variety of anvil designs, with the toroidal anvils of Khvostantsev [132]... [Pg.77]

The result of the basic design phase is a rather precise plan of the project and an accurate cost estimate that will constitute the basis for the hnal go/no go decision. The environmental impact of the project and all relevant permitting issues need also to be resolved during this phase. The detail engineering hnally will provide the necessary information needed to execute the project. [Pg.45]
