Treatment - interrupting contact with the poison and cleaning on the entry area caution measures for the hands of assistance personnel (gloves etc.) - reanimation methods respiratory reanimation (inhalation of oxygen and oxygen mixture, commanded breathing for the extremely severe cases), stimulation of the... [Pg.64]

Oxahc acid is not flammable but its decomposition products, both formic acid and carbon monoxide, are toxic and flammable. Its dust and mist are irritating, especially under prolonged contact. Personnel who handle oxahc acid should wear mbber gloves, aprons, protection masks or goggles, etc, to avoid skin contact and inhalation. Adequate ventilation also should be provided in areas in which oxahc acid dust fumes are present. [Pg.461]

Personnel who handle phenol should wear protective clothing, safety goggles, and mbber gloves, depending on the working conditions and amount of phenol handled. [Pg.291]

Alkylamiaes are toxic. Both the Hquids and vapors can cause severe irritations to mucous membranes, eyes, and skin. Protective butyl mbber gloves, aprons, chemical face shields, and self-contained breathing apparatus should be used by aH personnel handling alkylamiaes. Amines are flammable and the lower mol wt alkylamiaes with high vapor pressures at ordiaary temperatures have low flash poiats. Amines should be handled ia weH-veatilated areas only after eliminating potential sources of ignition. [Pg.201]

Tests have been developed that test different products for their effectiveness as a healthcare personnel handwash (327) evaluate hand disinfectants for use in surgery (333) determine the effectiveness of a surgical hand scmb, ie, the glove juice test (311,329) evaluate antiseptics for the oral cavity to be used in mouthwashes (334,335) and test antiseptics for the periurethral area and appHcation to catheters (336,337). A method used for a test comparing four antiseptic products was adopted as recommended practice by the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control (338). [Pg.140]

Dipped Goods. Gloves with and without cloth support are a typical example. Unsupported appUcations involve specialty medical gloves and weather balloons. Eor CR to compete with less expensive natural mbber, it must provide added value. Natural mbber medical examination gloves contain proteins that can cause an allergic reaction in both patients and medical personnel. Polychloroprene gloves avoid the problem for those individuals, but are too expensive for general use. Natural mbber weather balloons have less lift than CR balloons and are rapidly attacked by ozone in the upper atmosphere. [Pg.548]

Response personnel should be awcire of the possibility of exposure to communicable diseases while handling a victim during a rescue. Transmission routes include blood, bodily fluids and droplet contamination via breathing. Use of bauriers such as impermeable gloves, masks and body coverings and frequent hand washing and removal of any bodily fluids on the skin wll minimize expx>sure. [Pg.7]
