Parallel constructions

Parallelism, or parallel construction, is the use of words or groups of words of equal grammatical rank. Equal grammatical rank means that words are connected only to words, phrases only to phrases, subordinate clauses only to other subordinate clauses, and sentences only to other sentences. Establish parallel construction by using coordinating conjunctions, correlative conjunctions, and correlative constructions. 

Do not try to use parallel construction around the word but when it is not used as a coordinating conjunction. 

Use parallel constructions in series and lists, including section headings and subheadings in text and tables and listings in figure captions. 

Users find lists and tables easy to understand because of the mental checldist they promote. Maintain parallel construction when writing hsts. Lists also provide an opportunity to use tables in the procedure. Many word-processing programs make it easy to create a table for grouping information into columns with headings. A column for signoffs or data collection can easily be added to a table. 

Exception 2 Use all numerals for numbers modifying nouns in parallel construction in the same sentence if one of the numbers is 10 or greater.

Specifically, the parallel construction method, discussed in Chapter 8, has been used to generate the region. 

The plant layout features four main separated blocks of buildings to improve accessibility and facilitate parallel construction and assembly activities which help shortening the construction schedule. The plant has one entrance only for daily use, backed up by a second emergency exit.

Miscellaneous This section deals with odorization of fuel gases as well as special precautions for pipelines paralleling overhead electric transmission lines on the same right-of-way. The use of extreme care in grounding and the prevention of damaging stray fault currents in such parallel construction cases cannot be overemphasized.

The electrolyte capacity of the ampoule must be matched to the composite volume of all the cells in the battery. A parallel construction battery is reasonably tolerant of electrolyte flooding or starvation since it is a single cell. A series configuration, however, can tolerate no flooding since that condition produces intercell short circuits in the electrolyte fill channel or manifold. The opposite condition, that is, insufficient electrolyte, may leave one or more cells empty and therefore fail to provide continuity throughout the cell stack.

Marathon manufactures the BA4386 battery, which serves as the power source for the PRC 25 and PRC 77 transceiver sets. This battery consists of 10 CD-size cells in series-parallel construction.
