Headings parallel construction

Use parallel constructions in series and lists, including section headings and subheadings in text and tables and listings in figure captions. 

Users find lists and tables easy to understand because of the mental checldist they promote. Maintain parallel construction when writing hsts. Lists also provide an opportunity to use tables in the procedure. Many word-processing programs make it easy to create a table for grouping information into columns with headings. A column for signoffs or data collection can easily be added to a table. 

Others such as Macas et al. (1998) successfully adapted the Biomek 2000 (Beckman Coulter), a commonly used liquid handling robot, to prepare microarray slides using a specially constructed print head and quill pins. Up to 28 microscope slides could be placed on a work surface for printing. Biomek s HDRT head was adapted to accept microarray quill pins held between two parallel plates with holes drilled on 9-mm centers to dip into 96-well source plates. The quill pins were spring-loaded similar to the design... 

In order to maximize throughput it is necessary to scan several samples simultaneously within the same imaging sequence. To this end a multi-compartment tubular holder, placed within a volume coil, was used which enabled up to 14 rat heads and 5 rabbit heads in parallel to be imaged (Fig. 1). The tubular holders were custom-made and were constructed from commonly available specimen tubes which were cut to size and glued together. The closed ends of the tubes are conical in shape which aids with the positioning of the sample as an ink spot on the snout of each fetus is aligned with the tip of the cone to control out-of-plane rotation.

UK tunnels are constructed from a work area at Shakespeare Cliff, three parallel headings being driven about 10.0 km landward and three about 22.1 km seaward to the meeting point with the French drives. 

Sometimes, pumps are installed in series to boost suction pressure or to increase pump discharge pressure. For this case, the composite pump curve can be constructed by adding the pump head at a fixed pumping rate. In other cases, pumps are installed in parallel to increase pumping rate. For this case, the cnomposite pump curve can be constructed by adding the pumping rate at a fixed pump head. 

Because the tail of the vector is positioned at the origin, we start at the point labeled O and then move in a stepwise manner to locate the vector head. Because the x head coordinate ( 2) is a, we proceed from point O, a units along the X axis to point Q. From point Q, we move b units parallel to the -y axis to point P, because the y head coordinate ( 2) is b. There is no z component to the vector inasmuch as the z head coordinate ( 2) is Oc. Finally, the vector corresponding to this [110] direction is constructed by drawing a line from point O to point P, as noted in the illustration.
