Package handling system

Package-Handling Systems The control of packagehandling systems may depend on simple motor starters, on interlocked relays with photocell control, or on computers. Sohd-state controls are finding much application in the last two systems. [Pg.1975]

The weighing and proportioning of liquids and solids has also benefited from this technical revolution. Sensing devices and special-purpose computers give a level of precision and speed not possible in the era of elec tromechanical devices. The net result is that packaging and material handling systems now have the sophistication of chemical processes. [Pg.1911]

Renewable energy processes include the operation of combustion and H2-handling systems and therefore have to be protected against fires (see Section 3.8) and explosions. Because chemicals display different explosive characteristics and processes differ in physical dimensions, an explosion suppression system is usually a design package. In many instances, approval for insurance must be obtained from fire underwriters with evidence of design capability demonstrated in a test. [Pg.392]

The recovery of whole cells is best explained by the manufacturing procedure for baker s yeast. This process is almost identical to the early stage of protein recovery, except that the final product is the cell instead of the filtrate. After fermentation, the cells are spun out with a centrifuge, washed with water, and recentrifuged to yield a yeast cream with a solids concentration of approximately 18 percent. Cream yeast can be loaded directly into tanker trucks and delivered to customers equipped with an appropriate cream yeast handling system. Alternatively, the yeast cream can be pumped to a plate and frame filter press or an RDVF and dewatered to a cakelike consistency with 30-32 percent yeast solids content. The press cake yeast is crumbled into pieces and packed or spray-dried for dry products. After packaging, the yeast is ready for shipping to retail. [Pg.1340]

This factor is to be applied only to the equipment listed in the estimate under the "Materials" column that requires minimum or no assembly by the regular construction forces. Equipment that requires field assembly by the vendor, such as large storage tanks, large boilers, materials handling systems, and other complicated packages, should be listed in the estimate under the "Subcontract" column. The cost includes both materials and field costs. [Pg.273]

The enterprise shall define the system life cycle quality factors that influence the system s capability to meet downstream requirements for producibility, test, ease of distribution (packaging, handling, transportation, storage, installation, and transition), usability, supportability, ease of training, and disposability. The system life cycle quality factors should be decomposed and allocated among the products, and then the subsystems, in a manner which ensmes that quality factors traceability is maintained. [Pg.20]

The enterprise should perform appropriate production inventory and control activities production, assembly, integration, and acceptance test activities and packaging, handling, storage, delivery, and installation activities to provide system products to consumers and support organizations. The enterprise should manage suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of products, materials, and services needed to carry out production activities. [Pg.32]

Handling systems may also control several plastics molding machines at the same time. Some machines can be interconnected in parallel direction for inlays, quality check, assembly and packaging. Other machines are connected in line in respect to operations. [Pg.48]
