Outside storage

Once testing and final inspection are complete, the unit is prepared for shipment. The specification should have detailed the type of storage anticipated and expected time. It should have specified indoor, warehouse, outside storage, or whatever is planned. An anticipated time point should also have been stated. The contract should have stated the mode of shipment and destination instructions. Upon notice of shipment, the traffic department (if there is one) may wish to monitor the shipment. [Pg.461]

The environmental conditions inside and outside storage areas and around equipment are periodically monitored. [Pg.389]

In one case, the State has limited a cement plant to the sources of its tires. Gifford-Hill in Harleyville, S.C., has a permit condition that the tires must come from a tire dealer, not a landfill or an outside storage facility. This... [Pg.222]

Outside storage containers also must have hazard information relating to their contents attached. [Pg.198]

SFAs of reactor installations of the first-generation NSs were temporarily stored at two areas of the CMB at a special storage facility (Building 1) and outside storage facility in containers (types 6 and 11) at the open-air SRW TSF. [Pg.322]

In outside storage areas, store drums on sides to avoid accumulation of rain water in top or bottom of recessed areas. [Pg.267]

Cmde oil storage tanks may be located in the open or in an enclosed area. If located outside, they should be set on concrete pads to protect them from surface water that eventually can cause mst and corrosion (26). A practical method for protecting cmde oil quality involves painting outside storage tanks with aluminum or... [Pg.2613]

Disposal of flammable solvents in storm sewers or sanitary sewers is, in general, not allowed. Exceptions are small amounts of those materials that are miscible with water, but even disposal of these should be followed by large amounts of cold water. Other solvents should be collected in safety cans. Separate cans should be used for ether and for chlorinated solvents all other solvents may be combined in a third can. The cans should be stored, in keeping with storage quantity rules, in a safety cabinet until pickup by a waste-disposal firm. A more economical approach is to transfer the solvents to larger cans or drums in an outside storage facility so that pickup could be less frequent. Some large institutions have their own in-house disposal facilities. [Pg.35]

Bunker B, or No. 5, fuel oil has a lower proportion of cat-cracked gas oil to pitch than No. 4 fuel oil, but still remains fluid down to storage temperatures of about 10°C. Combustion equipment must have some provision to heat the fuel prior to atomization, in order to obtain efficient combustion. Outside storage at temperatures below 10°C would require insulated tanks fitted for heating to enable the fuel to be pumped. [Pg.624]

In general, containers of pressurized flammable gases should be stored in outdoor open air areas with overhead protection from the elements. If outside storage is not an option, controlling the buildup of flammable gases or vapor can be accomplished, up to a limit, with either a passive or active ventilation system. However, a large release of gas or vapor may exceed the capacity of a practical ventilation system resulting in a hazardous concentration. [Pg.102]

STORAGE Outside storage preferred inside should be in a standard flammable liquids storage room or cabinet. [Pg.21]

STORAGE Outside storage is preferred store in a cool, dry, well ventilated location keep away from oxidizing materials. [Pg.32]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS add with stirring to strong alkaline solution of calcium hypochlorite let stand 24 hours, route to sewage plant dissolve in flammable solvents and spray into incinerator with afterburner and scmbber outside storage preferred store in cool, dry, well-ventilated location isolate from oxidizing gases, especially chlorine. [Pg.388]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb on vermiculite and bum in open in cinerator addition of KMn04 will break down to acid, which can be routed to sewage treatmen plant outside storage preferred inside storage should be in a standard flammable liquids storag room or cabinet separate from oxidizing materials, peroxides, acids, and alkalies. [Pg.392]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS dispose of by controlled incineration remove nitrogen oxides from the effluent gas by scrubbers or thermal devices activated carbon treatment is recommended outside storage is preferred inside storage should be in a standard flammable liquids storage room or cabinet. [Pg.394]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb in sand or inert absorbent and place in a sanitary landfill dispose of container and unused contents in accordance with federal, state and local requirements store in a cool, dry location maintain adequate ventilation outside storage is preferred containers should be bonded and grounded for transfers to avoid static sparks use non-sparking type tools and equipment, including explosion proof ventilation keep away from any area where the fire hazard may be acute separate from aluminum and strong oxidants. [Pg.450]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS cautiously ignite small amounts in open areas atomize large amounts in a suitable combustion chamber outside storage preferred store bulk quantities under water or inert gas blanket. [Pg.474]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS reduce with bisulfite or a ferrous salt add soda ash or dilute hydrochloric acid to neutralize route to sewage plant absorb in dry earth or sand, and place in a sanitary landfill store in a cool, dry well-ventilated location separate from combustible, organic, or easily oxidizable materials outside storage preferred. [Pg.483]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS mix with a combustible solvent and bum in chemical incinerator equipped with afterburner and scrubber store in a cool, dry location outside storage preferred isolate from oxidizing materials and peroxides. [Pg.499]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS dissolve in a flammable solvent and bum in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber disposal must be in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations store in a cool, dry place maintain adequate ventilation store only with compatible chemicals separate from oxidizing materials keep in tightly closed containers outside storage is preferred. [Pg.502]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb in dry earth, sand or vermiculite and place in a secured sanitary landfill store in a cool, dry location with adequate ventilation isolate from air, moisture, halogens, alkali metals, aluminum and rust outside storage is preferred normally refrigerated usually shipped in pressurized cylinders diluted with hydrogen, argon, nitrogen, or helium. [Pg.540]
