Storage methods

A smooth coal pile surface, coupled with the gradual slope, minimi2es the differential wind pressures and consequent oxygen penetration. A 4-6 X 10 t lignite stockpile from the excavation for the Garrison Dam in North Dakota has been stable for many years as a result of this storage method. [Pg.154]

Are hazardous substances (for example, fuel oil, gasoline, acids, bases, solvents, or metal bearing solutions) stored on-site If yes, describe usage, storage method and location. [Pg.168]

An important and difficult task is concisely translating your requirements into study objectives. For example, if you need to decide between two methods of storing a hazardous chemical in a plant, the analysis objective should precisely define that what is needed is the relative difference between the methods, not the more general I want to know the risk of these two storage methods. And asking your QRA team for more than is necessary to satisfy your particular need is counterproductive and may create unnecessary liabilities. For any QRA to efficiently produce the necessary types of results, you must clearly communicate your requirements... [Pg.26]

Transportation is by railroad tank vehiele, by tank truek, or by pipeline. In this ease, transportation at ambient temperature is the best ehoiee. The ehoiee of storing ammonia at an ambient temperature liquid or partially refrigerated liquid or an ambient pressure liquid depends mostly on eeonomie faetors. One of the faetors that determines the storage method is the quantity of ammonia to be stored. [Pg.1122]

In 1995 potatoes and rice were stored in an abandoned road tunnel in Japan. At the end of the winter the tunnel was filled with snow that was covered with aluminum coated tarpaulins. The products were stored both beside the snow piles and under the tarpaulins. Rice from the same harvest was stored in a grain magazine and at a research centre for comparison. The rice in the tunnel had best quality after two month. The potatoes under the tarpaulins kept its quality longest and it was found that the storage method was feasible over the whole year (Suzuki et al., 1997). [Pg.352]

Spencer and Brewer [112] have reviewed the determination of radionucleides in seawater and discuss sampling and storage methods together with tables of radionucleides that have been determined in the oceans. [Pg.359]

We must notify that gasoline, methanol, and LPG are also the storage methods if the reforming apparatus are provided. Biomass also may be applied. [Pg.9]

Fossil fuels, however, are destined to disappear, which means that not only a new energy source must be developed, but also a new storage method for such energy must be developed. [Pg.21]

The analytical data concerning this second period are, at present being processed. At a first, brief examination, however, considerable dif ferences in final characteristics (at the end of the tests), already emer ge, in response to the kind of storage method adopted. [Pg.279]
