Oriental quality evaluation

The lap-joint shear strength test method is chosen here for weld quality evaluation. The dimensions and weld configuration of the specimen are shown in Figure 1. In order to reduce bending dming the strength test, the weld line is oriented parallel with the tensile loading direction. More information on this technique can be found in reference [8]. 

Vulnerability of the liver to injury necessitates routine evaluation of hepatic function in patients and asymptomatic individuals to avert or control adverse clinical conditions. Thus, a plethora of methods has been developed for the diagnosis of liver diseases and dysfunctions. One such method uses physical palpation to determine alterations or changes in the orientation of the liver, which provides valuable information about the organ status but the quality of information is subjective and imprecise [3]. Another common method for the diagnosis of more serious hepatic injuries involves liver biopsies coupled with biochemical tests to determine the extent of liver injury and prognosis [4-7]. However, in acute and some chronic hepatic disorders, dynamic and continuous hepatic function monitoring would be advantageous. 

In order to calculate polymer/filler interaction, or more exactly the reversible work of adhesion characterizing it, the surface tension of the polymer must also be known. This quantity is usually determined by contact angle measurements or occasionally the pendant drop method is used. The former method is based on the Young, Dupre and Eowkes equations (Eqs. 21,8, and 10), but the result is influenced by the surface quality of the substrate. Moreover, the surface (structure, orientation, density) of polymers usually differs from the bulk, which might bias the results. Accuracy of the technique maybe increased by using two or more liquids for the measurements. The use of the pendant drop method is limited due to technical problems (long time to reach equilibrium, stability of the polymer, evaluation problems etc.). Occasionally IGC is also used for the characterization of polymers [30]. 

The oriental crude drug Mao (Epedrae Herba) is contained in various oriental pharmaceutical preparations (255). Since the content of ephedrine alkaloids in this drug may vary with the Ephedra species used for its preparation and with, e.g., harvest conditions, it has been important to develop quantitative analytical methods in order to evaluate the quality. 

Eurthermore, in the United States a TRE may vary between states. The US EPA s TRE is based on compliance with whole effluent toxicity, but a specific state s toxic reduction evaluation may address compliance with chemical-specific water quality standards and implement action-oriented programs that provide technological solutions for pollutant removal (e.g., pretreatment facilities). Thus, various toxicity reduction options may be available and should be evaluated before initiating time-consuming and expensive studies. 

So far we have discussed the operative processes—that is, the service production processes—but there are other equally relevant processes, such as support services (not perceived by the customer, but also essential, e.g., maintenance, purchases, etc.) and strategic services (they orient the whole organization Fig. 3). The quality of all these processes is susceptible to evaluation. 

The study finds that the participants in general evaluate quality of life and personal aspects of activation more highly than labour market oriented aspects (Arbejdsministeriet 2001 Bach 2002). A majority of the participants believes that activation leads to a better everyday life (70%) and to more self-confidence... 

The zeolite membranes quality and the development of methods able to rapidly identify the defects are key-factors for large scale applications. A large number of static and dynamic methods can be used to evaluate the quality of membranes [125J. Static methods allow to study the physico-chemical characteristics of the membrane material. Dynamic methods allow the detection of defects affecting the transport properties and consequently the membrane performance. For zeolite membranes the quality of the adhesion between the zeolite layer and the support, the orientation of zeolite crystals, the layer thickness, and the number and quality of... 

The quality of a hazard communication program is largely dependent upon the adequacy and accuracy of the hazard determination. The hazard determination requirement of this standard is performance-oriented. Chemical manufacturers, importers, and employers evaluating chemicals are not required to follow any specific methods for determining hazards, but they must be able to demonstrate that they have adequately ascertained the hazards of the chemicals produced or imported in accordance with the criteria set forth in this Appendix.
