Evaluation of quality

Prior to the publication of ISO 9000, several nations had developed national quality system standards, with many used only in the procurement of military equipment. With the emergence of the NATO Quality Control System standards in 1973, the Quality Panel of the UK Society of Motor Manufacturers set out to develop an equivalent standard for non-military applications. The result was BS 4891, which was published in 1972. In 1974 this was followed by BS 5179 with the title Operation and Evaluation of Quality Assurance Systems. However, BS 5179 was intended only as a guide and it was not until 1979, with the publication of BS 5750, that major purchasers in the UK had a standard that could be invoked in contracts. A certification scheme was eventually established in 1983, following the UK government s white paper on competitiveness ... [Pg.5]

The Team Biologics report is known as an Establishment Inspection Report, which consists of a list of observations recorded on a Form 483. In the Findings section, both products and processes are discussed and various processes are rated. Inspections of both products and the establishment focus on systematic evaluation of quality. Inspection Reports may recommend warning letters, notice of intent to revoke licenses, or civil or criminal legal action. [Pg.56]

Essential oils have properties that reflect their chemical composition and the range and amounts of constituents are used for evaluation of qualities such as criteria for purity, in determining extraction methods and in defining aspects such as chemotypes. [Pg.7]

The basis for registration is to ensure the quality and safety of traditional medicines marketed in Malaysia. Unlike western medicines, evaluation of traditional medicines does not cover efficacy. Satisfaction is not to be confused with dimensions of quality such as 1) quality of conformance or 2) quality of design. Quality of conformance is the consistency of how the product is manufactured or the service is delivered. For example, pharmaceutical tablets are manufactured to fit within FDA standards for dissolution. Each batch is tested to determine if tablets within that batch fit standards. Quality of design is how well the product or service meets the needs of consumers or how well the product or service compares with those of competitors in the eyes of the consumer. In the pharmaceutical tablet example, the manufacturer would evaluate the quality of design by comparing the clinical outcomes provided by the product to the desired outcomes of the patients. Such factors as returning to normal health or avoiding side effects would be used in the evaluation of quality of... [Pg.651]

When used appropriately, therapeutic interchange has proven to be an extremely effective method of medication cost management. An active and well-organized P T Committee is essential to the success of any therapeutic interchange program. As the focus on the costs involved with medication therapy in health care organizations increases, P T Committees will have to become even more creative in methods used to promote, evaluate, and monitor the effects of therapeutic interchange.
