Oleyl chloride

Olefinic amides have been made by this method. The best laboratory preparation of oleamide consists in the reaction of oleyl chloride with aqueous ammonia. ... [Pg.288]

The cation-active surface-active compounds, which are usually quaternary ammonium or pyridinium derivatives, form another important group of textile auxiliaries. An example is Sapamine CH, which is diethylethylene diamine condensed with oleyl chloride and converted to the corresponding hydrochloride ... [Pg.199]

An example of the first type is the emulsion stabiliser as exemplified by sodium oleyl sulphate, cetyl pyridinium chloride and poly(ethylene oxide) derivatives. For a number of applications it is desirable that the latex be thickened before use, in which case thickening agents such as water-soluble cellulose ethers or certain alginates or methacrylates may be employed. Antifoams such as silicone oils are occasionally required. [Pg.355]

Slip additives act at the surface of a polymer film or article to reduce the friction between it and another surface. In a variety of plastics, such as polyolefins, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride, fatty-acid amides are applied as slip additives. Fatty-acid amides, such as oleamide, stearamide, erucamide, and oleyl palmitamide, are added to plastic formulations where they gradually tend to bloom to the surface, imparting useful properties including lubrication, prevention of films sticking together, and reduction of static charge. [Pg.327]

Several potential etiologies were investigated, including infectious agents, pet-borne vectors, contaminated food, organophosphate pesticide exposure, and vinyl chloride contamination from food containers, before a link was made between the new disease and the consumption of adulterated cooking oil. Chemical analysis of the case-associated oil identified brassicasterol, a marker for rapeseed oil, trace amounts of aniline, oleyl anilide, and other fatty acid anilides and contaminants (Aldridge, 1992 Posada de la Paz et al., 1996 Ruiz-Mendez et al., 2001). The toxin or toxins appear to be stable in oil, since consumption of toxic oil one year after the main epidemic led to development of the disease. [Pg.108]

Pollmann and Stegemeyer investigated the effect of pressure on the pitch of cholesteryl oleyl carbonate (COC) mixed with cholesteryl chloride and found that the pitch increases very rapidly with pressure, the effect being more pronounced the greater the concentration of COC. This appears at first quite surprising, but, in fact, the explanation is straightforward. We have emphasized that the pitch diverges as the temperature... [Pg.297]
