Language Object-Oriented

For components to be plug-replaceable, it is essential that the component specs be self-contained and symmetrical it is the only way to be able to design reliably using parts without knowledge of their implementations. In contrast, a traditional server, in a client-server setting, is one-sided It provides a set of services, but the services it expects from others are not documented explicitly. Object-oriented languages have also focused almost exclusively on services implemented by a class without any explicit description of the services it expects from other objects. [Pg.412]

There is confusion in popular writings about the similarity and differences between an object and a component. Some of this confusion stems from the fact that component technology is often best implemented using an object-oriented language more fundamentally, it stems from loose usage of the terms object, class, and component. [Pg.413]

The Object Constraint Language (OCL), a standard part of UML 1.1, is a specification language used in conjunction with UML models. It is an expression-based, side-effect-free language that eschews mathematical symbols (V, 3, and so on) for textual equivalents (forAII, exists). It uses a syntax more usual in object-oriented languages V x T, p(x) becomes T->forAII (x x.p). [Pg.706]

Encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism are the most well-known features of object-oriented programming. These features are provided by all object-oriented languages. [Pg.21]

HDL has been implemented in Actor, which is an object-oriented language. The user interfaces have been developed from Microsoft Windows 3.1. ConceptDesigner can be run in any PC (personal computer)-compatible computer. [Pg.143]

Simulation programs have been developed by using object-oriented-language C-b-f to evaluate the proposed system. Table 1 shows major exogenous vjiriables and parameters of simulation models, and the values of the exogenous vjuriables and parameters used for thermodynamic characteristics simulation. As shown in Teible 1, turbine inlet temperature is assumed to be 1473 K, condenser outlet pressure is 39.2 kPa (0.40 kg/cm ), and the fuel used is the natural gas composed of only methane. [Pg.299]

One area receiving a great deal of recent attention is the application of object-oriented languages (16-18), as exemplified by... [Pg.245]

One final possibility is to use a combined approach, using an object-oriented language or a shell program for system development or prototyping, and implementing the delivery system in a conventional language, such as C or Pascal. Particularly useful for large projects, this approach lets each tool do what it does best. [Pg.246]

Object-oriented DBMS design is based on appropriate linking of objects, or data items or entities, and the operations on these, such that the information and processing is concentrated on the object classes, attributes, and messages that transfer between them. The features that set object-oriented approaches from other approaches are the capability of object-oriented languages to support abstraction, information hiding, and modularity. The items used in object-oriented DBMS design are objects. [Pg.122]

Recently, another object-oriented language for web compatibility, namely Java [13], has been created and it revolutionized the WWW of the Internet age. Several specialized books and free Internet web resources in the area of computer programming, languages, compilers, etc. are available for interested readers. Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) include NetBeans and Eclipse. The java program is compiled using javac in the command line. The JDK needs to be installed. [Pg.6]

The third category of problem, at the superficial level, is the control of the subject s navigation. It seems that it is a very important problem, especially in hypermedia courseware. Inded Object-Oriented Languages (as Hypertalk) allow a very great number of possible paths, that is to say voyages in almost unlimited number. So the first problem is to be able to situate at every moment where the subject is in the system. It can be solved by keeping the trace ... [Pg.185]

The Ada language was first introduced in 1983 (ISO 1983). Used primarily for large-scale safety and security critical projects, and embedded systems in particular, where reliability and efficiency are essential, Ada experienced its last major revision in 1995 (ISO 1995), making it the first internationally standardized object-oriented language. The latest revision (Ada 2005) responds to requests for features in the areas of multiple interface inheritance, real-time profiles, flexible task-dispatching policies, and a unification of concurrency and object-oriented features. [Pg.187]
