North American identification

United Nations/North American Identification Number(s) UN/NA identification numbers are four-digit numbers assigned to identify and cross-reference a hazardous materials (i.e., nitric acid, fuming = 2032 butane = 1011 white phosphorus, dry = 1381). [Pg.337]

Search MSDS on CCINFOWeb. All databases on CCINFOWeb may be searched for free. The MSDSs are contributed by North American sources, many that are multi-national companies marketing chemical products worldwide. This database meets a growing international requirement for health and safety information on specific chemical products. It helps thousands of users worldwide manage their responsibilities under workplace, environmental and other right-to-know legislation. The MSDS database can be searched quickly and easily for product names and other product identifications, manufacturer or supplier names, dates of MSDSs, or any term used in the text of the MSDS itself. [Pg.624]

DOT Identification Numbers Four-digit numbers proceeded by UN (United Nations) or NA (North American) that are used to identify the particular hazardous materials for regulation of transportation (e.g., the UN code number for chlorine trifluoride is UN1749). Haz Mat Response Teams (HMRTs) often refer to such numbers to identify specific chemicals listed in the Department of Transportation s Emergency Response Guidebook Double Gloving An additional set of gloves worn in addition to the already in-place protection. [Pg.305]

Until recently, most of the chemical research on the contents of these structures was directed at the identification of the constituents of castoreum. In the late 1940s Lederer [72, 73] identified 36 compounds and some other incompletely characterized constituents in castoreum of uncertain origin. Other constituents were subsequently identified in the material [74-77]. In a reinvestigation aimed specifically at the phenol content of the material, Tang et al [69] identified 10 previously unreported phenols in the castoreum from the North American beaver, Castor canadensis. Of the 15 phenols reported elsewhere, only five were confirmed in this analysis, in addition to 10 phenolic compounds that were not reported elsewhere. It was concluded that the 10 previously identified phenols that were not found in the study by Tang et al. were either absent or were not volatile enough to be detected by the methods employed. This was most probably because a relatively low maximum column temperature of only 210 °C was employed in the GC-MS analyses. The compounds identified by Lederer,... [Pg.255]

Saz and Marina [148] published a comprehensive review on HPLC methods and their developments to characterize soybean proteins and to analyze soybean proteins in meals. In the case of soybean derived products, a number of papers dealing with cultivar identification [149,150], quantification of soybean proteins [151-154], detection of adulteration with bovine milk proteins [151,155-158], and characterization of commercial soybean products on the basis of their chromatographic protein profile [159,160] have been published in the last years. Other studies deal with the analysis of soybean proteins added to meat [161-165], dairy [151,165-167], and bakery products [156,163,168,169]. The same research group developed perfusion RP-HPLC methods for very rapid separation of maize proteins (3.4 min) and characterization of commercial maize products using multivariate analysis [170], and for the characterization of European and North American inbred and hybrid maize lines [171]. [Pg.580]

As pointed out by Swisher and Prothero (1990) relatively recent advances (1989-1990) in mass spectrometric techniques and the development of laser-fusion 40Ar/39Ar dating techniques have resulted in the ability to date individual volcanic crystals, Multiple analysis and the ability to date single crystals allow the identification of multiplc-agc components due to detrital contamination, and thus permit improved precision and accuracy. To date, studies have been directed to North American chronology, notably minerals (biotite, anor, plag) found in Nebraska and Wyoming. [Pg.147]

Most research has focused on the identification of typical colorants used in Europe and the Middle East, with some work on those used in the Far East, and in South America. Very little is known concerning North American colorants and... [Pg.26]

Culicidae. Mosquitoes are vectors of malaria. Analysis of hydrocarbons has been essential for discrimination between closely related species and/or populations. It allows accurate and quick identification of the Aedes species (Pappas et al., 1994). Five of seven North American populations and nine of fourteen North American and Asian populations of Aedes albopictus were distinguished based on discriminant analysis of hydrocarbons (Kruger el al., 1991 Kruger and Pappas, 1993). Studies on Aedes have shown important geographic variations in hydrocarbons. [Pg.136]

This short description of the main North American species illustrates how varied psilocybian mushrooms are. People intending to gather or cultivate them should consult experts, particularly when identification of any mushroom is in question. Even clear photographs may be only somewhat helpful. It should be kept in mind that mushrooms change appearance as they age and often have different coloration in different regions. [Pg.356]

The UN Number element of each chapter includes the 4-digit serial numbers assigned under the United Nations scheme that represent the entries covered in the chapter. Also included are the supplementary North American numbers (NA numbers, including those in the 9000 series) used by the DOT and the identification numbers (ID numbers in the 8000 series) used by lATA. UN Numbers form an index at the rear of the Glossary. The following methodology was used to prepare the UN Numbers ... [Pg.351]
