Neurologic, definition

The most definitive diagnosis of AD is a postmortem examination of the brain for the presence of two characteristic lesions the neuritic plaque (NP) and the neurofibrillary tangle. Both structures were originally described in 1906 by Alois Alzheimer using silver-based histological stains. The discovery of NPs was hailed as a watershed moment in the history of neurological disease as it helped shift society s perception of age-related dementia from social stigma to physical disease [2]. 

Data on acute exposures of humans to both isomers of dimethylhydrazine are limited to case reports of accidental exposures. Signs and symptoms of exposure include respiratory irritation, pulmonary edema, nausea, vomiting, and neurologic effects. However, definitive exposure data (concentration and duration) were unavailable for these accidents. The limited data in humans suggest that the nonlethal toxic response to acute inhalation of dimethylhydrazine is qualitatively similar to that observed in animals. No information was available regarding lethal responses in humans. In the absence of quantitative data in humans, the use of animal data is considered a credible approach for developing AEGL values.

One obvious prediction of the systems theory is that because the differing properties of structures restrict their interaction, there is a definite limit to the number of stable d-SoCs. ignoring enculturation, we can say that the number is large but limited by the biological/neurological/psychical endowment of man in general, by humanness. The number of possible states for a particular individual is even smaller because enculturation further limits the qualities of structures.

Careful sample selection and preparation are the prerequisites for a successful analysis (Boguski and McIntosh, 2003). Postmortem brain samples for our studies were obtained from the M RC London Brain Bank for Neruodegenerative Diseases, Institute of Psychiatry. The AD patients fulfilled the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and Alzheimer s Disease and Related Disorders Association (NINCDS/ADRDA) criteria for probable AD (Mirra et al., 1991). A definite diagnosis of AD was performed by historical analysis of the brain samples, which was consistent with the CERAD criteria (Tierney et al., 1988).
