Naphthyl blue

Naphtyl, n. naphthyl, -amin, n. naphthylamine. -aminsulfosaure, /. naphthylaminesulfonic acid, -blsu, n. naphthyl blue. [Pg.312]

Naphthyl blue is probably a salt of a sulphonic acid of amido-isonaphthylrosinduline, and naphthyl violet is a dyestuff of similar character. They are principally intended for silk, on which they show a red fluorescence. [Pg.303]

Condensation of an o-nitrosophenol with an amine hydrochloride in acetic acid (10) Nile Blue [2381-85-3] is formed from the hydrochloride of 1-naphthyl amine. [Pg.422]

Chohnesterase-inhibiting pesticides (e g., organophosphate and carbamate pesticides) are detected by dipping the developed chromatogram in a solution of the enzyme chohnesterase followed by incubation for a short period. Then the plate is dipped in a substrate solution, e.g., 1-naphthyl acetate/fast blue salt B. In the presence of the active enzyme, 1-naphthyl acetate is hydrolyzed to 1-naphthol and acetic acid, and the 1-naphthol is coupled with fast blue salt B to form a violet-blue azo dye. The enzyme is inhibited by the pesticide zones, so the enzyme-substrate reaction does not occur pesticides are, therefore, detected as colorless zones on a violet-blue background [36]. [Pg.182]

Blue fluorescent emitters based on fused polyaromatic ring systems have long been known and systematic work has steadily improved the efficiencies and colors, while pushing the limits of stability in an operational device. A sky blue based on styrylamine doped 2-methyl-9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene OLED was reported to provide the highest efficiency device (Scheme 3.99) [365],... [Pg.393]

Location of alkaline phosphatase on starch or polyacrylamide gels has been achieved using a- or /3-naphthyl phosphate in conjunction with a stabilized diazonium salt, e.g., fast blue RR 149) or fast blue BB 150). [Pg.434]

Enhancement in the performance of OLEDs can be achieved by balanced charge injection and charge transport. The charge transport is related to the drift mobility of charge carriers. Liu et al. [166] reported blue emission from OLED based on mixed host structure. A mixed host structure consists of two different hosts NPB and 9,10-bis(2 -naphthyl)anthracene (BNA) and one dopant 4,4 -bis(2,2-diphenylvinyl)-l,l -biphenyl (ethylhexyloxy)-l,4-phenylene vinylene (DPVBi) material. They reported significant improvement in device lifetime compared to single host OLEDs. The improvement in the lifetime was attributed to the elimination of heterojunction interface and prevention to formation of fluorescence quenchers. Luminance of 80,370 cd/m2 at 10 V and luminous efficiency of 1.8 cd/A were reported. [Pg.83]

Add a-naphthyl butyrate and three drops of acetone to the Fast Blue RR salt. Then add 50 ml of phosphate buffer and stir the solution vigorously over low heat. Add 1 ml of 1% a-naphthyl acetate to the warm solution. Pour the solution immediately over the gel through a single layer of cheesecloth... [Pg.96]

The polyphenol extract from the barley bran (BPE) induced the differentiation of human promyelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells, based on the expression of the differentiation markers such as nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) reducing activity and a-naphthyl butyrate esterase activity. Prodelphini-din B-3, Tl, T2, and T3 induced 26-40% NBT-positive cells and 22-32% a-naphthyl butyrate esterase-positive cells. Proanthocyanidins might potentiate the retinoic acid (all-frarcs-retinoic acid)-induced granulocytic differentiation and sodium butyrate-induced monocytic differentiation in the HL-60 cells [101]. [Pg.39]

An interesting example is die assay of clonidine hydrochloride in injections and tablets (British Pharmacopoeia, 1980). In 0.01 Mhydrochloric acid, clonidine exhibits two sharp maxima ne - 272 nm and 279 nm, which are not suitable for precise measurement. However, clonidine forms an ion pair with bromothymol blue, and this can be readily extracted into chloroform for subsequent measurement of the broad maximum near 420 nm. Because of the intiinsic variabihty of reagents used in such methods, a pharmacopoeial reference standard is employed for cahbration. A similar policy is adopted for assays involving chemical modification of the drug, as in the tetrazolium assay for corticosteroids, the assay for folic acid involving hydrolysis, diazotisation, and coupling with N-(l-naphthyl)ethylenediamine, and the reaction of penicillins with imidazole and mercuric salts. [Pg.229]

Hepworth and coworkers95 have studied the effects of iV-alkyl and heterocycloalkyl substituents on the light absorption properties of, Victoria Blue 35 and 36 (Figure 12), the 1-naphthyl analogue of Crystal Violet. The steric interaction found between the N-terminal group and the peri-hydrogen in the naphthyl residue is correlated with H NMR data. [Pg.364]

At times l, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes, 200 pL of buffer (as before) containing 1 mmol L" J-naphthyl acetate and 1,5 mmol I. 1 Fast Blue RR Salt were added to slop the inhibition and monitor the esterase activity remaining. This was performed by using a microplate reader (Molecular Devices) monitoring the assays at 450 nm for 10 minutes (Grant et al. 1989). [Pg.218]
