Muller studies

K Muller studied the effectiveness of various lubricants, including free molybdenum disulphide powder, in preventing fretting. His assessment of effectiveness was based on the friction energy per cycle, which is not in fact a satisfactory criterion for prevention of fretting. He found that initially molybdenum disulphide powder was very effective in reducing friction, but subsequently there was a steady deterioration until the performance was almost identical with that in unlubricated tests.

A prerequisite of oral drug delivery by SLN is, however, a sufficient stability of the carrier system in the gastrointestinal fluids itself. Zimmermann and Muller studied different SLN formulations with respect to their GIT stability. No general conclusion could be drawn and aggregation and instability seems to be dependent on the lipid matrix as well as on the stabilizer system. The airflow pattern in rooms ventilated by linear attached jets with L/H ratio greater than that for effectively ventilated rooms was studied by Schwenke and Muller. Several studies of tissue distribution in humans after inhalation exposure to trichloroethylene report levels in the blood (Astrand and Ovrum 1976 Monster et al. 1976 Muller et al. 1974). Once in the bloodstream, trichloroethylene may be transported rapidly to various tissues where it will likely be metabolized. Trichloroethylene was detected in the blood of babies at birth after the mothers had received trichloroethylene anesthesia (Laham 1970), and detectable levels (concentrations not reported) have been found in the breast milk of mothers living in urban areas (Pellizzari et al. 1982). Post-mortem analyses of human tissue from persons with unspecified exposure revealed detectable levels of trichloroethylene (<1-32 pg/kg wet tissue) in most organs (McConnell et al. 1975).
