Mounting types

The sound-absorbing properties of acoustical materials also are influenced by the manner in which the materials are mounted. Standard mounting methods for use in laboratory testing are specified in ASTM E795-92 (2). Unless noted otherwise, pubflshed data for acoustic ceiling materials are for Mounting Type E-400, for which the material being tested is suspended 400 mm below a hard surface.

SAS are designed for the use in different systems such as ESP, EPS, BCD, AFS, and others, but the majority of SAS are used for ESP. The resistor, R, protects the diode against overload and accidental reversal of the supply voltage. The capacitor, C, provides a low-impedance RF-retum path to ground. The capacitor must be a low-impedance surface-mount type. The resistor is not critical. The connection length in the path GND-C-Photodiode-Connector must be kept to a minimum, or a 50 Ohm strip line on a printed circuit board must be used. Please note that the circuit gives a fast response only if the output is terminated with 50 Ohm.

Often the microphones supplied with ASR systems are not adequate when the user has limited breath support, special positioning requirements, or low-volume speech (Anson, 1997). Many individuals who have disabilities may not be able to independently don and doff headset microphones that are normally supplied with commercial ASR systems. In Aese cases, desk-mounted types are often used. Current ASR systems utilize commonly available sound cards rather than separate hardware installed in the computer (Anson, 1999). 

We would need to check whether the vendor can supply the whole unit as a skid-mounted type. If not, the vendor should inform the overall space required for the plant.

Most metal-core PWB consumer applications are made of aluminum substrate, which comes as a copper-clad material. PWBs made of such material do not have through-holes, and components are usually surface-mount types. These circuits are frequently formed into three-dimensional shapes.
