MORI survey

Figure 1.3 reports the results of a poll made by the UK Chemical Industries Association to analyze the general public s view of the chemical industry by (MORI survey) [21, 22]. Although the survey was limited to UK, it is indicative of the general perception of the chemical industry by the public [23]. A constant decline, with a maximum of unfavorable opinions around the end of the 1980s, is evident. 

Fibers (see Fibers, survey) used in textile production can have a wide variety of origins plants, ie, ceUulosic fibers (see Fibers, cellulose esters) animals, ie, protein fibers (see Wool) and, in the twentieth century, synthetic polymers. Depending on the part of the plant, the ceUulosic fibers can be classified as seed fibers, eg, cotton (qv), kapok bast fibers, eg, linen from flax, hemp, jute and leaf fibers, eg, agave. Protein fibers include wool and hair fibers from a large variety of mammals, eg, sheep, goats, camels, rabbits, etc, and the cocoon material of insect larvae (sUk). Real sUk is derived from the cocoon of the silkworm, Bombjx mori and for a long time was only produced in China, from which it was traded widely as a highly valuable material. 

A rather complete survey of the entire field of viscometry, including the mathematical relationships applicable to various types of instruments, has been made by Philippoff (P4). The problem of slip at the walls of rotational viscometers has been discussed by Mooney (M15) and Reiner (R4). Mori and Ototake (M17) presented the equations for calculation of the physical constants of Bingham-plastic materials from the relationship between an applied force and the rate of elongation of a rod of such a fluid. ... 

Perhaps mention should be made here of the occasional help of comprehensive historical articles, especially if their aim was to present a complete survey of a subject. An American example is the paper by Silliman (21) on Ainerican Contributions to Chemistry which covers over 60 pages. In this review of the work of the century 1774 to 1874 one finds not only the names of now famihar periodicals, such as the Journal of the Franklin Institute and American Journal of Science but also less famihar ones, such as Veiy York Medical Repository, Boston Journal of Chemistry New York Medical and Philosophical Journal, Thomson s Annals of Philosophy, M morie des savants Strangers, and Memoiri degli spectroscopisti italiani. 

The rating methodology will be described in some detail to show the depth and complexity of this type of exercise and, in order to have any real value, the rating mechanism must be very thorough. For a number of years, the FT has carried out a survey on corporate reputation, initially restricted to Europe. In 1998 the survey was expanded to cover the world, and renamed the World s Most Respected Companies . The fieldwork was carried out by Mori on-line in Europe, Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Japan and A.C. Nielsen in the rest of the world. The results were obtained by questioning over 650 CEOs of publicly quoted companies in 53 countries, as well as leaders from state-owned enterprises and private companies.

The distribution and typres of forests lying on the territory of the municipality of Mori (TN) were surveyed in the year 2007 by Ingegnoli and Giglio, following the LaBISV Method. Mixed oak forests Ostrya woods) are the most widespread formation (59.7%) followed, in the uppar vegetation belt, by pine forests Pinus sylvestris and Pinus nigra), spruce forests... 

The results from the survey of 13 forested tesserae in the LU1 of Mori-Talpina are shown in table 5, where pB measure the plant biomass above ground BTC is the biological territorial capacity of vegetation (Mcal/mVyear) Q represent the four ecological qualities of the tessera (Ect = ecocenotope, LU = landscape unit, Ts = tessera, pB = plant biomass, B = % of coniferous species, BTC maturity threshold, 85% of the model curve).

Unfortunately, there is no available total compilation for the entire complement of legumes from the Atlantic rain forest that could be compared with the data presented here for the caatinga. Nonetheless, the low number of taxa of the caatinga extending eastwards (Table 6.3), as well as data derived from floristic surveys in Atlantic rain forest sites (e.g. Mori et al., 1983 Guedes, 1992 Guedes-Bruni and Lima, 1994 Thomas et al., 1998), favour an interpretation of two quite distinct floras, at least with respect to the Leguminosae.
