Minimum information requirements

Note The data columns provide the minimum information required to assess the relative potency of the compounds and the quality of the experimental data used to generate the IC50 value. 

To make full use of microarray data it is necessary that data of published microarray experiments be made available to other researchers for comparison purposes. To this end, the Minimum Information About a Microarray Experiment (MIAME) (31) guidelines have been developed at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI). This standard describes the minimum information required to ensure that microarray data can be easily interpreted, and that results derived from its analysis can be independently verified. 

There are vastly different levels of knowledge requirement in the study of multiphase chemical reactions, depending on the objective of the study. Development of a chemical process rarely requires an in-depth understanding of the kinetics and mechanism, and industrial chemists work on a strict need to know basis, since the acquisition of non-essential information is regarded as a waste of money. If the above information cannot be fully obtained then a formal guarantee must be sought that the polymer and the included constituents meet some level of food clearance (FDA, EU, etc.). This is normally accepted as the minimum information required before a plastic is considered further in the development stage of a pharmaceutical product. The information required for a notification is the chemical identity, amount manufactured or imported, use, physico-chemical properties, ecotoxicity studies, available mutagenicity studies and animal toxicity, indir t long-term effects on humans and recommendations for disposal and labelling. The data requirements for the notification of new substances are based on the OECD MPD and arc very similar to those in the EC. The minimum information required is listed in Table 34.1. There are no official reduced data requirements for notification of substances to be supplied only in low amounts, although FOEFL will negotiate on a case-by-case basis for certain of the standard tests to be omitted, especially if the substance is to be used in special applications or has special disposal methods which minimise environmental contamination. Studies are to be conducted in compliance with GLP to OECD guidelines or their equivalent. 

Minimum Information About a Microarray Experiment (MIAME, http // www.mged.org/miame) is a document that describes the minimum information required to ensure easy interpretation and independent verification of microarray data [55]. A guideline itemizes the detailed information that should be included while reporting a microarray experiment (see Table 18.1-1 for a summarized checklist).

The minimum information required for defining a hypo is the Normal Boiling Pt or the Molecular Weight and Ideal Liq Density.

In definitive process design work and/or in refinery operations analysis, the engineer usually has access to a complete crude assay. Indeed, he should not undertake a definitive design without one. On the other hand, feasibility studies and/or order-of-magnitude work is often performed with little more than a whole crude gravity and TBP curve. In either case, the first step is to characterize the crude in order to facilitate later calculations. The minimum information required is (a) whole-crude TBP curve, (b) whole-crude API gravity and (c) whole-crude light ends analysis.
