Metallized fibers types

Fiber drums are also made with a removable fiber top and a fiber bottom that is either removable or permanently fastened to the body. This drrtm has limited reuse, brrt it costs less than the lever-locked metal-top type. Filling equipment consists most commonly of an operator-controlled spout connected to a supply bin resting on a platform scale. Table 21-26 shows the labor productivity of several systems. [Pg.1959]

The inorganic classification includes the metal pan type, consisting of a perforated metal pan with a sound-absorptive mineral wool pad the perforated cement-asbestos type, consiting of a perforated cement-asbestos sheet with a sound-absorptive mineral wool pad acoustical plasters and tile prepared from mixtures of inorganic or mineralized fibers with or without asbestos and other fillers. In general, acoustical products in this classification possess good fire and flame resistance, but are relatively expensive and difficult to manufacture and apply. [Pg.28]

To gain a better understanding of the effect of protein fiber type, dye, and mordant on sunlight and burial weathering processes, we dyed wool and silk with three phenolic dyes (found as major components in natural dye mixtures extracted from various plant sources) and post-mordanted samples of the dyed fabrics with five representative metal salts. We then exposed the unmordanted and the dyed-mordanted samples to simulated sunlight or soil burial and measured the differences in the color and tensile properties that resulted from these treatments. [Pg.199]

In this chapter, we define some important terms and parameters that are commonly used with fibers and fiber products such as yams, fabrics, etc., and then describe some general features of fibers and their products. These definitions, parameters, and features serve to characterize a variety of fibers and products made from them, excluding items such as fiber reinforced composites. These definitions and features are generally independent of fiber type, i.e. polymeric, metallic, glass or ceramic fibers. They depend on the geometry rather than any material characteristics. [Pg.8]

If a wet method for collection is selected, such as a wet electrostatic precipitator, fiber-type self-draining mist eliminator, or wet scrubber, ammonia can be regenerated from the salt solution by reaction with a readily available metal oxide such as lime or zinc oxide with formation of a stable sulfur product for disposal. These metal oxides, however, as well as their reaction products, are insoluble and could cause deposition on heat transfer surfaces and/or clogging in the regenerating equipment. Therefore, as indicated in Figure 2, to ensure continuity and reliability of the process, a soluble metal oxide was utilized (in the form of sodium hydroxide solution) to regenerate the ammonia in the experimental work described. This procedure also allows more eflFective utilization of the metal oxide the soluble oxide (NaOH) can be regenerated in batch equipment outside the continuous portion of the process by reaction with either the aforestated insoluble reactants, lime, or zinc oxide. Better control is aflForded in a batch reactor with more eflBcient use of reactants. However, in full-scale equipment undersirable deposition of reactant and product may be controllable so that batch operation may not be necessary. [Pg.197]

A replaceable metal orifice threads into the bottom of the gas injector. Its function is to further retard downward flow of reagents into the spool enclosure. The size of the hole in the replaceable orifice can be varied depending on the fiber type being coated. A similar, but slightly larger, orifice is located at the interface between the reactor and top spool enclosure. [Pg.328]

PACKING - Material made usually of woven animal, plant, mineral or metal fiber and some type of lubricant, placed in rings around the shaft of a pump and used to control leakage from the stuffing box. [Pg.112]

Some widely used filter media are twill or duckweave heavy cloth, other types of woven heavy cloth, woolen cloth, glass cloth, paper, felted pads of cellulose, metal cloth, nylon cloth, Dacron cloth, and other synthetic cloths. The ragged fibers of natural materials are more effective in removing fine particles than the smooth plastic or metal fibers. Sometimes the filtrate may come through somewhat cloudy at first before the first layers of particles, which help filter the subsequent slurry, are deposited. This filtrate can be recycled for refiltration. [Pg.806]

On the other end of the scale are the conducting and semiconducting polymers. Several types exist. For example, conducting fillers may be added, such as short metallic fibers that touch each other or carbon black. Alternately, an ionic polymer may be employed, or a salt may be added to the polymer. Conductivity in the latter systems depends on the moisture content of the polymer. [Pg.783]
