Air leakage control

At SINTEF charcoals from birch and oak wood were produced at atmospheric pressure in a 3.7 L stainless steel retort placed in a Nabertherm muffle oven. The muffle oven is equipped with a programmable temperature controller, which provides control of the heating rate, temperature, and reaction time. The retort has a capacity of proximately 1 kg of dry wood per batch. The typical dimensions of the feedstock pieces were 3 cm x 3 cm x 5 cm. During heating and cooling, the retort was purged with Nj to prevent air leakage into the system. [Pg.1180]

Air leakage measurements use a system of controlled negative pressure in which air is pumped out of the respirator to create a fixed negative pressure (usually 1 in water gauge) and the airflow need to maintain this pressure is measured. The airflow is taken as the same as the leakage rate into the respirator. The method requires wearers to hold their breath and the filter canister to be blanked off (otherwise, air will leak through the filter). [Pg.170]

Equal-pressure regulation in gob is also an effective method to control microcirculation of air leakage, since it dilutes the oxygen concentration to a certain degree, and correspondently controls the spontaneous combustion of residud coal (Li 2008). [Pg.1026]

ABSTRACT Using the overburden rock fissure 0 -ring theory, and based on the three-dimensional stope Merry flow continuity equation, differential equations and gas migration momentum dispersion equation, combined with the similarity theory, the similarity criteria relationship of experimental model is established. Such design contains a variety of ways to build a three-dimensiond ventilation stope experimental model. Make use of this model as the basis for the test-bed U-shaped ventilation flow field experiment, then input obtained experimental data into MATLAB software for numerical analysis. Finally get the discipline of air leakage field under the U-type ventilation and gas field distribution, then take it as the basis to determine the principles of Spontaneous Combustion Prevention and gas control. [Pg.1087]

As for other types, electrodes may also be shaped to conform to the geometry of the load or may be part of the conveyor or hydraulic or pneumatic press. The entire system is confined within a metal housing to prevent leakage of radiation. At the same time, hot air of controlled temperature, humidity, and velocity may be passed through the applicator. [Pg.293]

Another condition that has caused numerous control problems (with both temperature and furnace pressure) is combustion gases and air leakage through cracks in... [Pg.271]

Optimize compressor operation, reduce friction and air leakages in air distribution system, low pressure drop air coolers and instruments, reduction of air leaks, use of heat of compression dryers, cool compressor suction air, waste heat recovery at compressor inter-stage coolers, better control Install additional compressors in parallel. Use of heat of compression dryer Use cogeneration, ORC, KC or (hydraulic) power recovery turbines... [Pg.50]

Rotary, star valve feeder Used especially as solids feeders for dilute phase pneumatic conveying to provide an air lock and to feed solids. Seal/wear depends on Ap and abrasiveness of powder. For pressure systems keep Ap < 80 kPa for vacuum systems Ap < 40 kPa. Provide an air vent to take the air loss away from the gravity flow of the solids and to control the filling of the star. For granular particles, prefer an offset-feed rotary valve for cohesive particles, more difficult to handle prefer a blow-through rotary valve. Cohesive particles will tend to seal a rotary valve and minimize air leakage. Not recommended for abrasive powders. [Pg.60]

However, there are disadvantages. The yield of biogas production varies due to the composition of food waste and retention time. Highest methane yields are found to be with excess of lipids and longest retention time while there are inhibitoiy effects likely to occur with excess of lipid and proteins due to the volatile fatty acid accumulation and ammonium nitrogen. Besides, there is extra attention and precaution for the leakage of CH4, extra cost of maintenance and air pollution control measures are needed. [Pg.122]
