Mechanical activation

The term mechanical activation should only be used for processes where a solid is pretreated prior to a subsequent reaction. The mechanical activation of solids is often used on an industrial scale to effect the calcination times of ceramics, or the solubility of ores. When a new surface is generated, there is an excess of electrons in the new surface. For new surfaces generated in vacuum, these excess electrons are expelled to the atmosphere as the surface comes to equilibrium and are called exoelectrons. A closer look at the Lewis relation requires an examination of the heat- and mass-transfer mechanisms active in the entire path from the hquid—vapor interface into the bulk of the vapor phase. Such an examination yields the conclusion that, in order for the Lewis relation to hold, eddy diffusivities for heat- and mass-transfer must be equal, as must the thermal and mass diffusivities themselves. Sweating, the other powerful heat loss mechanism actively regulated by the thermoregulatory center, is most developed in humans.
