Loose liners

Forming. Most refractory shapes are formed by mechanical equipment, but some very large or intricate shapes requke hand mol ding ki wooden, steel-lined molds with loose liners to permit easy removal of plaster of Paris molds. [Pg.31]

In a third process, a loose liner is fastened to a carbon steel shell by welds spaced so as to prevent collapse of the hner. A fourth method is weld overlay, which involves depositing multiple layers of alloy weld metal to cover the steel surface. [Pg.2424]

This construction givesalarge number of common parts-pistons, connecting rods, loose liners and valves - through a range of compressors, and such parts can be replaced if worn or damaged without removing the compressor body from its installation. [Pg.38]

The construction of multicylinder machines gives the opportunity to change the working swept volume by taking cylinders out of service with valve-lifting mechanisms. The ring plate suction valve which is located at the crown of a loose liner can be lifted by various... [Pg.40]

One product that has been developed for mercury cells is a loose liner (Fig. 23.14), which is fitted on-site in the anode workshop and fastened with titanium nuts (Fig. 23.15). The riser tube is tightened using a Bakelite pressure plate. [Pg.306]

Closures made with a liner (or wad)-type sealing system break the seal faster, thereby allowing more time to vent the carbonation gases. The technology of liners has developed significantly over recent years. This development has improved the reliability of the seal across a wide range of bottles, both glass and plastic, and offers the potential for an improved barrier in the closure. All this has meant that most closures in the soft drinks and juice market today have liners of one form or another. There are two types of liner a loose liner pushed into the cap after the cap is moulded and a moulded-in liner, which is formed at the time the closure is made. [Pg.217]

A word should be said about the weak boundary layer effect and silicone release [40,41]. Studies have shown that having loose silicone oil that can transfer to the PSA will lower release, however subsequent adhesion will likely suffer as well. In most commercial instances using silicone liners, a weak boundary layer is not intentionally employed. Additionally, many low transfer silicone liners are commercially available which provide premium release and show low to no PDMS transfer to PSAs, indicating that PDMS transfer is not a necessary condition for easy release. [Pg.548]

Plastic closures can be made by injection moulding, where the mould has two parts - a core which has the inside features of the closure and a cavity which has the features of the outside of the closure. Molten plastic is injected into the mould, which is water-cooled. The plastic solidifies, and the mould opens and the completed closure is ejected. If the closure is a two-piece design (i.e. fitted with a loose or flowed in-liner), then this is added later. Another technology for moulding plastic closures for the beverage market is compression moulding. A hot pellet of PP is positioned in a mould, similar to the cavity of an injection mould. As the mould closes, the pellet is squashed and defoimed into the shape... [Pg.217]

Tape and film are the most common forms of solid epoxy adhesives. Tape and film are terms that are used rather loosely for adhesives in a thin sheet form. The term tape generally refers to an adhesive that is supported on a web of paper or nonwoven fabric, or on an open-weave scrim of glass, cotton, or nylon. Films, on the other hand, are free of supporting material and consist only of the adhesive. Both tape and film products may be accompanied with a release liner depending on the tack or blocking characteristics of the adhesive. [Pg.247]

Products from calenders go into many different markets such as credit cards, upholstery, luggage, water reservoir, rainwear, loose-leaf book, and footwear. Different plastics are used such as ABS and ABS/PVC alloys go into margarine pack, luggage, panels, and chlorinated PE go into roofing, and pond liners. There are unsupported and supported as well as rigid products and coated substrates. Unsupported flexible PVC... [Pg.378]

HTE resins are snitable for antomotive and aerospace wiring, complementing ETEE. The HTE flnoroplastics have similar abrasion resistance and cut-throngh resistance to ETEE, bnt they can be processed on standard extrusion and molding eqnipment and offer a higher LOl than ETEE. Another application of HTE flnoroplastics is in loose-ht tank liners [71],... [Pg.87]
