Mechanical lift

Classification occurs near deep end of sloping, elongated pool. Spiral, rake or drag mechanism lifts sands from pool. 

In-plant transfer in specially designed containers, e.g. tote bins, corrosion-resistant containers, with provision for mechanical lifting. 

The profiling method requires the sensitive slice to be shifted through the object. Figure 2.4.2 shows the mechanical lift used to move the sensor with respect to the sample. The object under study, for instance the lower surface of the arm in the picture, is positioned on top of a flat holder (A) and the NMR sensor is placed under it on a movable plate (B). The mechanical construction allows one to move the sensor up and down with a precision of 10 pm. The distance between the rf coil and the sensitive slice defines the maximum penetration depth into the sample (maximum field of view of the ID image). Depending on the application, the position of the rf coil with respect to the sensitive slice can be changed to maximize the sensitivity. 

The only feature shared by all of these is a single intake port. General pumps used are submersible turbine (electric) and mechanical-lift pumps. 

Disappearing Carriage. Type of fixed mount in which a balancing mechanism lifts the major caliber cannon to a position above its protective parapet for the act of firing, after which the cannon again "disappears behind the parapet...

Densification is accomplished by a 300 HP California Pellet Mill Model 7162-3. The pellets are formed by extrusion through nominally 3/8 inch diameter radial holes in a cylindrical die. Pressure is exerted on a "pad" of the material to be densified by rolls which have fixed shafts. The pellet die rotates about the pressure rolls. Pellet length is controlled by a "cut-off" knife positioned to clip the pellets as they exit the rotating die. The exiting material stream from the pellet mill is mechanically lifted to a pellet cooler, which discharges to a screen to remove under-size pellet pieces and fines. The fines and pieces are recycled to the pellet mill infeed system. Finished pellets are conveyed by high pressure air system to tank storage.

Multicats, powerful motorised barge/pontoons complete with a hold and engine room, bridge, clear working deck and some form of mechanical lifting equipment, are frequently employed in most marine/harbour works. Work boats can be used as a shuttle vessel, tug, ferry or floating working platform. They tend to be extremely flexible and can carry out work which would otherwise tie up major items of marine plant. 

If your company has specific ergonomic practices or mechanical lifting aids, this is a good time to explain and demonstrate their use. Let the trainees know if you have a limit on the weight that they are allowed to lift manually. 

The patient assistive devices classification includes items such as walkers, bedpans, prosthetic limbs, canes, robotics, trapeze bars, wheelchair, orthot-ics (i.e., braces and shoes), patient transfer devices, and stand assist lifts. The six items belonging to the nurse protective devices classification are gloves, face masks, patient transfer devices, hand sanitizer dispensers, mechanical lifts, and gowns. The pahent protective devices classification includes items such as listed below [4] ... 

Size up the load before trying to lift it — Test the weight by lifting at one of the corners. If the load is too heavy or of an awkward shape, the best thing to do is (1) get help from a fellow worker, (2) use a mechanical lifting device like a dolly. 

It is a far-ranging aspect of the employer s duty. In the first place the employer may have failed completely to provide equipment necessary for the safe performance of work, for example mechanical lifting equipment for a load too heavy to be manhandled. 

BTU installation could be quite an adventure. In India, for example, they had to do the job without mechanized lifting equipment - a challenge that required on-the-spot ingenuity. Scheduling installations and service was a headache for management, because, aside from normal time-tabling problems, each workers accumulated radiation exposure had to be taken into account.
