Ligands ligand exchange

Exchange of substituents at the centra] metal can be regarded as ligand-ligand exchange, something common in coordinative chemistry. [Pg.810]

The central ion of a mineral surface (in this case we take for example the surface of a Fe(lll) oxide and S-OH corresponds to =Fe-OH) acts as Lewis acid and exchanges its stuctural OH against other ligands (ligand exchange). Table 2.1 lists the most important adsorption (= surface complex formation) equilibria. The following criteria are characteristic for all surface complexation models (Dzombak and Morel, 1990.)... [Pg.15]

It is also termed chemisorption (especially for gases), inner sphere adsorption and, in the case of ligands, ligand exchange. The binding constants, Kf and for the surface complexes show the same stability trend as do the constants for the equivalent complexation reactions in solution. [Pg.261]

The central ion on the surface of a mineral, for example, Fe in a Fe(III)(hydr)oxide, behaves (similar to FeOH in solution) as a Lewis acid and exchanges the structural OH against ligands (ligand exchange). [Pg.520]

In a case of inner-sphere complex with ligand (for instance, F" or HPO ), surface hydroxyl groups are replaced by ligands (ligand exchange). [Pg.188]
